My poor old Maytag dishwasher was 16 years old -- on its last leg. After working with my daughter reviewing both internet sites and visiting stores for feastures, etc., I narrowed my search to a few necessities -- quiet, movable pins for dishes, need height for larger pans, removable parts for odd shaped...

The non-energy efficient dishwasher

Brand new home with like appliances - that unfortunately "came with" the home.  We opted for a black top, stainless steel DW in an ENERGY STAR certified home, and this is truly disappointing for a DW.  Though it may very well be energy efficient, it runs through TONS of cycles and uses TONS of water. ...

Not quiet but it does a good job.

We had a dishwahser that finally broke down and we bought the Whirlpool Quiet Partner III. It says it's quiet but it's not. Other than that I think it does a fine job cleaning dishes. You don't need to wash them then put them through the dishwasher. I like it.
