I wish it would break so I could get a new one!

I am not impressed at all with this dishwasher! We have normal size dinner plates and they don't fit in the bottom rack. The rotating arm on the underside of the top rack gets stuck on the top of the plates and can't turn so we always have to make sure the plates are on the very outer edges of the rack. Any pan or anything that sticks up at all always gets caught on the arm so we can't pull the top rack out and we have to wiggle an arm in there somehow to pry it out. Very annoying when you're in a hurry! I hate that the silverware holder is in the door and it's so skinny that when I take it out to put the dirty silverware in, it always falls over and spills everything. It also doesn't allow water to get behind it so the inside door of the dishwasher is always gross. The name "Quiet Partner" is also a joke! We have to turn the TV up in the next room while it's running! I can't complain about the wash time, it seems decent, but our dishes always come out with a film on them no matter which soap I use or how much I've cleaned the inside of the dishwasher.

Not really happy with it

We needed to replace our dishwasher -- a lesser brand that came with our new house and died after only 3 years. After doing research on this product, we decided to purchase it, but have been very disappointed. Like other reviews, the interior design is not the best. The top rack keeps falling out of its latches -- very annoying. We are still looking for the best dishwasher detergent that will get the dishes completely clean without film. Using Cascade and seems to be working ok. For the price, we expected a better product. Will go with another brand once this one stops working.

This dishwasher is a workhorse!! I love it, my husband was able to install it himself, I love all the features too. I wouldn't consider any other brand...This is the one they show on tv putting a cake inside and it destroys it. Its true - its like there is a trash compactor in the bottom...

Does the job

My Whirlpool dishwasher is a "Whirlpool Quiet Partner II".  It is quiet, cleans well and in general does a very good job.  The one thing I do not like is the arm that holds the upper spray agitator, hangs down too low.  Anything I put in the lower rack in the rear has to be fairly short or the upper rack will catch on the item.

Love my Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher

I read the other reviews and felt it necessary to add my input.  I have a 2 year old Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher (model..GU3600XTRQ).  I bought this because of price and energy star rating.  After installing, I noticed a difference in water and electric bill.  The interior is stainless steel and holds the heat from the wash cycle; therefore, there is no reason to use the heated dry.  I wash of an evening and put the dishes away in the morning; however, if needing the dishes immediatly after finished, I select the head dry.  I seldom do this because of the energy savings.  Another plus of the stainless steel interior is that fact that it helps muffle noise.  This dishwasher is so quiet the only time I hear anything is when it fills and when it kicks into the scub cycle...and that is only because my chair is about 5 feet from it.  In other words, I am in same room with the dishwasher and can hear the TV clearly without adjusting the volume.  I adore the adjustable rack, small item clips, and tray! Unlike some dishwashers with adjustable racks that are only adjustable if you remove the whole upper rack, this unit has buttons on the side that you push in to raise or lower it. The small item clips on the upper rack are perfect at holding lids to storage containers!  I usually put 2 lids in and they come out clean.  The small item tray on the lower rack is wonderful for holding serving spoons and larger knives and the great thing is I can fit ceral/soup bowls, saucers and pot lids under it.  This tray is also removable should I need the space for larger dishes. A few silly features to love are the flatware divider and the cup/stemware holder.  I NEVER have flatware that has food residue on them after washing.  I used to have to redo spoons if I didn't get them arranged "just right" in my old dishwasher.  The cup/stemware holder is wonderful for stacking juice or coffee cups.  You can actually fit a normal juice glass under holder and set another cup or juice glass on top and the top one get clean.  I tested this with dried milk in the top glass and it came clean!  I have not used the holder for stemware because my mother would murder me for placing the stemware she bought me in the dishwasher (Okay, she might not murder me but I know she would never buy me anything again.) .  However, in theroy, I can see where the holder would be great to slide the stems in and they be secure during wash cycle.  When I bought this unit I was looking at a Bosch with similar features and same cycles.  I chose this model over it because the Whirlpool has a heater (for heated dry option), stainless spray arms, food grinder (Bosch has a filter to empty), placement of flatware holder (Bosch is in middle and takes room from bottom rack...Whirlpool is in door or can hang on outside of bottom rack), and ease of adustable rack (Bosch rack has to be totally removed...which means if you needed that last bowl on the top you would have to unload, adjust rack and then reload).  I have no complaints about this dishwasher at all!!  My suggestion to all is to reseach models, not just brands, when buying.

Horrible

OUr dishwasher was purchased brand new about 2 years ago and I hate it hate it hate it. So much so that I wrotte the manufacturer a letter about it-not something i usually can be bothered doing. Their response was of course that I wasn't using it correctly. My husband has been in the appliance repair business for 25 years and we are both disgusted with this unit. The silverware basket design is terrible. It never stays latched closed so the silverware dumps out all over--I finally used a twist tie on it to keep it shut. The dishes just do not come clean. My old GE was much better...I only got rid of it because we remodeled the kitchen and wanted a newer matching DW. STainless steel has rust spots, dishes not completely dry, the list goes on and on. Whirlpool used to be the benchmark in appliances---well no more. I will only buy Frigidaire or GE now (since Whirlpool bought Maytag too).

Difficult to load correctly, does not clean well

1

I cannot get my cereal bowls to load, the racks are not designed well.  I've tried four different types of detergents and two rinse aids, but dishes come out cloudy.  I have to look everything over because it doesn't clean well.  This dishwasher is only 6 months old and is basically garbage.  I will never buy a whirlpool dishwasher again.

Almost great

I searched for months for a non-GE dishwasher to replace my third failed GE model (in less than 10 years...).  I wanted everything:  pot scrubber, steam cleaning and sanitizing, quiet operation, energy efficiency, and lots of room.  Plus, I wanted it to get the dishes clean without clogging up. For the most part I am satisfied, but there are drawbacks.  For instance, it is a bit louder than I expected.  I attribute this to lack of insulation.  There just is not enough and I can even see a gap between my sink wall and the d/w.  The pot scrubber feature is amazing.  Loud, but amazing.  It cleans everything.  I use it all the time.  The crystal/china feature is great, too, for when you're just needing a very light wash.  My least favorite setting is the standard wash.  For some reason, it does not do a great job of cleaning. Another issue I have is with the soap dispenser.  I have found that the only cleaning products that are completely consumed by the machine are those in little packets.  The door seems to get stuck during the cleaning cycle and powdered or liquid cleaners get trapped behind the door.  Don't know if this is a manufacturing flaw in just my machine or across the spectrum, but it happens all the time.  So the little individual pouches work fine and I use them instead of loose detergent.  Not really more expensive, but sort of a pain in the neck. How about something great?  This machine is super roomy.  You can load a whole lot of dishes, glassware and pots & pans into the thing.  There are adjustments possible with all the racks and cute little clips and gadgets to place and hold lightweight items throughout that powerful scrub cycle. I love that the controls are hidden inside the door.  Looks good and keeps curious young fingers out of the way.  The stylish euro-inspired handle is another plus.  I chose the stainless steel model and it is beautiful. I would definitely buy another machine like this, but I wish the few little problems were not there.  Otherwise, a perfect dishwasher for our home.

thought I would never buy a whirlpool but love it

it has been 3 months now that we have our stainless steel whirlpool dishwasher and I think it is awesome.  this replaced a kenmore dishwasher that was at least te years old.  we did inherit the kenmore when we bought the house.  it is extremely quiet.  it does run for at least an hour.  now we saw a drop in our energy bill.  it cleans great.  we lik the super clean feature.  I agree with  another reviewer that the heartier cycles work the best.  I like the fact that the control panel is on the top and kind of hidden from view.  I think it allows for the dishwasher to blend better in the kitchen as well as keeping the front cleaner.  I like te fact that the utensil tray is in the door way.  it also could be held in the racks if you would like it there too.  this frees up more room for pots and pans.  the only change I would make is to make better glass holders.  I think the top rack could be redesign to hold glasses better.

Is much quieter than others I have experienced.

Whirlpool Gold diswasher has several cycles, some being a pot soaking, which actually works very well. Most of the cycles are quite long, at least 70 minutes. It counts down the minutes as it goes. There is a quick wash, which I usually use, but I have discovered that the other "hardier" cycles do a better job of washing the dirtier pans, as well as drying better. I have noticed that plastic containers still have a lot of water at the end of the quick wash, but not as much with the others. Recently, I stayed at a timeshare and used the dishwasher and at that time realized how quiet this one really is! I have not really noticed any energy difference in using the different longer cycles that also use hotter water.
