Whirlpool Gold Dehumidifier Review

I purchased a Whirlpool AD70USR0 dehumidifier in 2005.  The unit has a five year warranty.  It ran without any problems in my basement for three summers before failing in August of 2008.  Since then it has been repaired on two additional occasions.  The Evaporator has been replaced once and the compressor replaced twice.  It just failed again a month after repair, and it now needs a new compressor and evaporator once again.  It has only operated for about two months in total since last year.  It's obviously a lemon that can't be put back into reliable condition, but Whirlpool will not replace it.  The only option they offer is to keep repairing it until the warranty expires next year.

One serviceman told me the unit is poorly made with copper tubing that is so thin that it can't survive the warranty before corroding.

My recommendation is to avoid this unit and find a better model from a more reputable company.
