Gets dishes clean

4

This is a relatively nice dishwasher I like that it is an energy star dishwasher. It does have some setbacks though. Noise Level Start up it is a little noisy but not unbearable, especially while it is filling up with water. Once it is full, it tends to be less noicy and then it is fine for the rest of the cycle. Cleaning Time Takes 3 hours to wash, and dry. How can a dishwasher be energy star that takes that long? how much electricity is it using? Best to load it up at night and turn it on before going to bed or if you work, turn it on before going to work. Loading Flexibility Hard to put wider serving dishes in There is no flexability in the size of the racks. Although you can move the top rack lower but I have wide bowls I'd like to put in and it isn't possible without taking up a lot of space in the dishwasher Performance Gets them clean just about every time. I love that because my other dishwasher never did. Design Looks nice, however the buttons are under the counter how can you get to them once you shut the door, it's not easy. Durability Seems to be heavy duty. However the top rack seems to be kind of rocky as it moves up and down a little and I'm a little concerned it may fall out of its track but I guess that's the way it is suppose to work.

Lots of space and my dishes come out clean!

I've had this dishwasher for almost two years and it's been a great investment! I was initially attracted to it because of it's sleek stainless steel design. I liked that all of the buttons were hidden. That was not only attractive to me but it was also functional. I have small children and it the buttons are hidden then I wasn't dealing with little kids pushing buttons that I didn't want them to be pushing. I loved the sleek bar across the top as well. I will say that the stainless steel shows everything but not having to clean around buttons is very helpful too! This dishwasher has a really nice capacity as well. I find that the tall tub allows me to put some of my largest platters and even cookie sheets in the bottom rack with plenty of room for the washer to still function correctly. I'm really able to load the dishes in this unit and that's nice as I save on water, energy and time as I am not having to run the dishwasher as frequently. My dishes come out sparking clean as well. Oh, did I mention, how quietly this unit runs? We can watch tv in our open concept kitchen/family room while the dishwasher is running without having to turn the volume up. It's really a great dishwasher!

Great product, a few design flaws

I really love many aspects of my new(ish) dishwasher. I've had it for a few years now, and I must say that it is WAY better than what I had previously. I love that there is a separate sprayer for top and bottom, and the hidden buttons were a must with my little ones around. The utensil basket seems smaller than my previous one, and the latch pops open really easily, sometimes spilling freshly cleaned utensils all into the bottom of the dishwasher, on the floor, etc. It's nothing major, you just have to be careful when unloading it. The bigger issue is that you have to be very careful in how you load the machine with both dishes and utensils. You've got to make sure that you don't have anything blocking the detergent flip-up door, otherwise no detergent gets out and nothing actually gets clean. The utensils, especially, are what you have to be super careful about. Just minor inconveniences, really, only happened once or twice. But I am pretty obsessive about how I load my dishwasher anyway.

Waste of money

Stainless front discolored after 3 months. Dishwasher itself quit at 14 months and again at 15 months, just 2-3 months outside manufacturers warranty. Control board defective. Whirlpool chastised that I should have bought the extended warranty but no offer to help. Repair will cost as much as original purchase price. VERY VERY VERY disappointed and frustrated in Whirlpool. Noise Level Quiter than my old one Cleaning Time More than 2 hours Loading Flexibility Liked top rack Performance Hard to rate when it quit after just over a year old Design Apparently terrible design Durability Terrible durability

Here's the thing with dishwashers: I want them to wash dishes. I used to have a Magic Chef dishwasher in my old apartment and that thing was loud, a bit smelly, and here's the kicker, DIDN'T wash dishes! I ended up washing them all by hand and using the dishwasher for a sorta steam cleaning effect. Not so with a whirlpool. There is a reason their machines are more expensive. They wash things. Caked on pizza? Bam, done. Baked on ziti? Bam Bam! I was so happy to have this machine in my new house. At first I was trepidatious, would it be like my old, suky dishwasher? Years of discontent facing me down in a new house, with a fresh start? But it works like a charm (I've been here almost two years) without any smelliness, loudness, AND it washes what I put into it! Awesome. My friend was over and we were comparing kitchen appliances and she didn't like white but as a bachelor, seriously, I don't care as long as it washes. It does. I'm happy.

had it for two weeks and the top tray broke

2

We had it for a week and one of the plastic top tray arms used to support the tray and adjust the hieght snapped. Also was noisier then the ten year old dishwasher we replaced. We purchased the dishwasher because our old one was ten years old and going to break soon. The store was giving a good deal and said it had the lowest repair history. it was tagged in the store and advertised as being "Consumer rated" with the best repair history for over ten years. That must have been for whirlpool as a whole not this model dishwasher. will do more research next time before I purchase another appliance.

Dishwasher is exceptionally quiet!

I love this dishwasher. We had it in our old apartment and when we bought a house it was the first purchase we made for the house. I couldn't live without it and my husband wouldn't do the dishes without it. No need to clean plates beforehand and when it says quiet, it means quiet.

Whirlpool Dishwasher

Needing a new dishwasher, I researched to find which dishwasher was the best. Whirlpool dishwashers kept coming up. I went to 3 different stores looking at various models. I purchased this dishwasher. Don't. I kept it for 4 weeks and returned it! Within the first week, a part on the top rack broke so whenever you pulled the top rack out, it came out on a slant. My husband wire-tied it together. The silverware holder is on the door. While this may sound fantastic b/c it will give you more space for dishes, it leaves you woefully short on space for silverware! Plan on maybe 1 days worth of silverware for your family and you will be doing the dishes again! The dishes did not always come out clean. We were told to use powdered soap rather than liquid. All that happened is the soap became hard in the dispenser and the dishes were still not clean. I would not recommend this product to anyone!

Whirlpool Gold Dishwasher Stainless

We have owned this dishwasher for about 3 months now. It has done a better job than any others I've owned, but I would still recommend washing any "chunks" of food or stuck-on food off first. The only other issue we've ever had with it is if large spoons are place on the same side as the soap dispenser, sometimes it won't open and the dishes won't get cleaned.

So far so good with this Whirlpool Gold dishwasher!

Buying appliances is difficult. For every appliance out there, people love it and hate it. It's hard to find appliances that everyone agrees is perfect. So when we went shopping for a dishwasher, we looked for one that had a lot of good reviews that seemed to outweigh the bad reviews. In the end, after looking at a number of reviews on several different websites, we settled on the Whirlpool Gold GU2275XTVY. We've had it about a month and so far we really like it for a number of reasons. First, it looks great in our kitchen and looks more expensive than what we paid. It cleans our dishes very well and they are significantly drier than they were with the 20 year old Whirlpool dishwasher that it replaced. It's also much more quiet. We actually forgot it was running at one point when we first started using it. The layout is versatile and allows us to get a lot of dishes, glasses and large items loaded before needing to run it. It does take a long time to run a full cycle which is common with these new efficient washers but still a little annoying. You must also use a rinse agent to get the best drying results. Keeping the stainless steel clean can be a challenge although we use Wow Stainless Steel cleaner which works very well. We're hoping the unit lasts as long as our old Whirlpool dishwasher.
