Looks good, but it's a nightmare to clean

2

When I purchased a new house, it was a foreclosure and had no appliances.  I went to Whirlpool and bought all coordinating stainless steel appliances, including the Whirlpool 30" Self-Cleaning Freestanding Gas Range.  I was looking for a gas stove/oven combo that looked great and functioned well.  I did not get what I wanted.  While the range looks great it is far from my favorite appliance, or my favorite range ever. The 5 burners are a nice touch, I'll say that.  But the Power burner and Accusimmer burner do not function as you would assume they should with names like that.  The Power burner is no better then any other burner on full blast, and the Accusimmer burner still causes pots to boil even when on the lowest possible flame.  It is also so concentrated a flame that it can cause the middle part to burn. The grates are VERY difficult to clean.  They do not fit in the sink and therefore cannot be soaked.  I scrub all the little grooves and bars and still grease is impossible to get off of them. The stove top is difficult to clean too.  No matter what I try it will not stop having this greasy film on it. The ring around the burners have started looking burnt and black and again, are impossible to clean. Additionally, after a bad "spill" (I won't say what, but it needed to be cleaned completely and quickly) I learned that you cannot just lift up the top to clean down below.  We really needed to clean it so we had to take the whole thing apart - un-doing screws and unhooking lines.  It was very dangerous and if it weren't for my husband's ability to do stuff like this I would have thrown the stove out. I cannot wait to be done with this range.  It looks great in brochures but for everyday use it's a nightmare!
