Whirlpool EDA5FHEXTL00 Refrigerator Review

The whirlpool side by side refrigerator is a nice basic refrigerator.  It keeps food nice and cold.  The freezer really keeps things very cold.  It runs quietly.  I also like the three drawers in the refrigerator.  The small drawer is nice for keeping yogurts.  The indoor ice maker makes good use of space.  I like having more shelf space that my old refrigerator.  I have three negatives.  First the ice dispenser does not dispense as well as I would like.  When you stop pushing to get ice it takes a moment for the ice to stop falling.  Sometimes, one will get left hanging only to fall out on its own later and leave a puddle on the floor.  Secondly the shelves do not go back far enough.  I have had a small bottle fall down behind the shelves a couple of times.  Finally I do not like the water filter.  It needs to be changed at least few times a year and is expensive.  I believe the filter costs around $45.  Something that needs to be changed regularly should not be that expensive.  I have only had refrigerator for about 4 months, so I do not have any comments about how well it will last.
