I purchased a Whirlpool Duet Washer which worked fine. For 6 weeks. That was 2 months ago. For the last two months I have been waiting for 7 parts. They now have 5, but the other two are still backordered, with no estimated arrival date. Whirlpool is unconcerned. They even chided me for being pushy because there are other people waiting ahead of me. They also indicated that after the parts are received, it will take 7 - 10 days to ship them to me. One would think that a reputable company would express the parts out after so long a period of time. I even sent a letter to their president's...
read full review »I never liked doing laundry until we purchased the Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer. I never liked having to dig way down in my old over-sized laundry tub to scrape the last sock up.
When I first purchased the Duet, the hubby had a cow. "You spent $1,700 bucks on a washer and dryer?" he exclaimed.
It was worth it. We live in an area where the water bill leads to a big sigh each month that the bill is opened. The Duet uses 30 percent less water than the top-loaders and the savings was immediately apparent in our monthly bill. A few short months after grumbling about the purchase, the hubby...
read full review »I bought this set when my 25 year old Hotpoint washer finally gave out. It was a great machine, but had run it's course. I found out that Hotpoints are not made like they used to be, so sad. So I checked into front loaders because of all the hype about saving water and besides, they are cute and a bit retro with the round windows in the front. I bought this set because Consumer Reports rated it #1.
I love my set, only have a couple of disappointments. I had heard that when I wash a load of jeans, that the legs would not get twisted together like in a top loader, but that isn't true,...
read full review »I purchased the Whirlpool Duet Washer/Dryer about 6 months ago, Loved it. Now all I smell is an awful odor. I have done everything to clean it..Used vinegar, bleach and so on. We took off the back drain hose and cleaned with baking soda and vinegar which cleaned out alot of gook. Nothing gets rid of the smell.
Now that I have been researching this, I am not the only one that has had this problem. Other people have experienced medical problems such as their kids getting sick and not realizing it was coming from the washer because of mold. One person went as far as taking the whole bottom...
read full review »I looked for over 6 months before I purchased this set. We bought the Duet HT set and have not been disappointed at all.
I read consumer reports as well as talked to numerous friends and sales people about the different front loading washers and dryers including all options and pros and cons. I learned that many other brands had an issue with the seals on the washers needing to be bleached to alleviate the smell of "wet clothes" approximately 2-3 times per month. I have had this set for 2 months and have yet to have the "wet clothes" smell occur.
We have washed and dried up to 42 pairs...
read full review »This set is the whirlpool duets with steam. Purchased them in February of 08 for a whopping $3,000. Was it worth it?? Not really. I don't find my clothes any cleaner, the cycles are very long, which is the most annoying feature that they have, the clothes are so twisted and tangled after the spin cycle it takes longer to get them into the dryer. I used to like to let my whites soak for awhile before washing. This washer has a soak cycle but for only 25 min. and then it completely drains. It does not start automatically washing after soaking, you need to go back and reset by starting a new wash...
read full review »I bought the Whirlpool Duet Washer and Dryer in August of 2007. I wasn't sure I'd like front loaders (worried about leaking out the door, etc). I'm so glad I went with them though. I searched my reviews/ratings/repair issues on all the front loaders available at the time and this pair had some of the best reviews and was the most affordable. They didn't let me down!!! I took the advice of the salesperson, washed all the clothes in the house one time each WITHOUT adding any soap, he wasn't kidding when he said I'd be amazed how much left over residue was in my clothes....they soaped up and...
read full review »We bought the Whirlpool duet clothes washer and dryer a few years ago; we were excited about the energy savings, greater capacity, and use of less water than top loading washers like our old washer was. In the last few years, the washer handle has broken; the latch that closes the washer door broke; the washer drum got stuck; the dryer caught fire because of lint that was collecting inside the base of the dryer, the internal computer had to be replaced, and washer drainage stopped working. We called Whirlpool's cutomer service for all these problems, and after a long wait, they told us that none...
read full review »Got such a great deal on the Machine through Sears specials paying less than $600(including the extended warrenty) we could not pass it up and with the no interest for a year agreement it ends up costing less, after-all than the gas of driving to the laundry matt and plugging the machines.
We purchased the machine in May of 2008 and have had no regrets.
The clothing is coming out clean, even my husband's grungy factory work duds. The water usage is minimal and the noise factor is not bad at all - even when using the high spin. We have cement floors and have not yet purchased the...
