Got such a great deal on the Machine through Sears specials paying less than $600(including the extended warrenty) we could not pass it up and with the no interest for a year agreement it ends up costing less, after-all than the gas of driving to the laundry matt and plugging the machines.
We purchased the machine in May of 2008 and have had no regrets.
The clothing is coming out clean, even my husband's grungy factory work duds. The water usage is minimal and the noise factor is not bad at all - even when using the high spin. We have cement floors and have not yet purchased the pedestal.
The clothing is damp when the cycle is done so electricity is saved on dryer time as well. I usually just hang the clothing to dry.
The gasket serves as an effective lint and small items trap (pocket change that did not get emptied etc)
We are still using the same container of detergent that we purchased back in May, which makes the higher price of detergent a bit easier to excuse. Make sure to not add more than the recommended amount, it does not suds up like non HE cleansers. Also, do make sure to use only the H.E. type of detergent for the sake of the machine and your clothing. We leave the door open when the load is done so that it can air out and not get the musty smell that some have complained about. It is also recommended to do a routine washing of the machine (load running just water and bleach).
All in all the only thing we would change about our machine is the size, we should have gone with a larger capacity for our family of 5. It is a little low for unloading, but, if you have the pedestool or if you build a platform for it that would solve the little inconvenience. If you do purchase through Sears and use the no interest 1 year plan, keep an eye on your billings as after 2 months they started adding in finance charges on ours - I called and they cleared it right up. Also, make sure to space your payments and amounts to have it paid off by the anniversary date as you will be responsible for all the interest that would have been on it, if you do not.
