Whirlpool Duet Sport Washing Machine —

I bought the Whirlpool Duet Sport Washing Machine two years ago and have regretted it since! I was hoping for a more energy efficient machine, and although it probably saves water, the cycles are TWICE as long as my old washer! There is NO WAY this is energy efficient! My other big disappointment is it doesn't seem to clean nearly as well as a regular upright washing machine - my clothes came out so dingy that I ended up hand-washing, then gave up and started washing my whites at my mom's house. This was the first front-loader I've ever had, so I didn't think about how there won't be a "soak" cycle, so I can't blame that on the machine... But it's not even conducive to soaking before using the machine, because it's awkward and difficult to put soggy soaked clothes into the tiny opening without making a mess. I even tried using a tiny, specially-purchased bucket for soaking, but it was still too big to dump contents into the machine.

I am experiencing the same thing. I really hate this machine. I purchased mine about 2 years ago and it is a Whirlpool Duet. I have regretted it every since. We are in the process of getting rid of ours. If it was a car, it would be a lemon. I have tried everything you mention. I have even changed deodrant because the solid remained on all our shirts, blouses, etc. after the wash. All light colored clothes are dingy and the whites are so bad they look a like a dingy gray. The whites are so bad we have to purchase more because we would be shame to wear them plus truly they do not look clean. They look nasty to us.

I, too, have a Sport Duet that is just over 2 yrs old. It cost $800 new and so far, it has had 2 major breakdowns costing me over $500 in repairs. The first incident was a shredded belt and the second: ONE of the CCU boards (the brains) failed. I emphasized ONE because the repairman said the machine has several. He also told me this machine is "nothing but trouble", sometimes it take MONTHS to get parts, and he wouldn't recommend ANY frontloader. His parting words to me after the last repair: "See ya in a few months when the water pump goes..." Ha, ha, only I wasn't laughing! So as you can guess, I totally regret buying this wretched machine and am looking for a top loader to replace it.

(By the way, Whirlpool Customer Service is a JOKE--they refuse to stand behind their product once the warranty period is over. They basically said "tough luck" because I didn't follow THE PROCEDURES in the Owners Manual by calling them first, waiting for them to send a "certified" technician who would call them back with a diagnosis... blah, blah, blah. I explained when one has a broken washer with a load of sopping wet laundry inside and the door won't open, you don't "consult" the Owners Manual for Procedures, you call and BOOK the first available repair person and hope you can get one within a day or 2 !! ) Better luck with your machine.
