The Whirlpool Duet Sport is an okay dryer.

I've been using the **Whirlpool Duet Sport Electric Dryer** along with the matching washer at my husband's temporary military residence and while it's not a bad dryer, I do like the washer a little bit more. Load Capacity The dryer can accommodate the same amount of clothes that you put in the matching washer, but I don't find the matching washer to fit as much as my top loader at home. I don't dry things that didn't first go through the matching washer, but I suppose your experience might be different if you are using a washing machine other than the Whirlpool Duet Sport. Performance Even when I put the setting on high heat and for a long period of time, there are often times my clothes are not fully dry. This issue usually resides in the waistline of pants and when I am drying denim jeans. I do like the wrinkle guard feature that keeps fluffing the clothes until you take them out of the machine. That's great since I don't usually get to take them out as soon as they are done drying. Ease of Use I don't like the fact that you can't alter the minutes of a drying cycle because each cycle: normal, heavy, etc. has a pre-set amount of drying minutes attached to it. If you want to change the length of drying time, you have to use the timed minutes setting, not a drying cycle selection. Design As with the washer, I don't like the buttons because they are hard to push. I prefer the dial knob that you turn that's on the units I have at home.

Love this dryer so far

We recently purchased this dryer. It was used but only 5 times before we got it. It works GREAT and it is SOOOO quiet. Our old dryer was so much louder than this one. its energy efficient which makes us happy because its saving us money. The settings are easy to understand and there are several options for drying to choose from. It seems to take a little longer than our old one but its saving energy so this is understandable. But also, there is an estimated time left on cycle on the screen and it doesn't always need to run all the way through. I have stopped to check and sometimes the clothes are already dry before its estimated they will be which is nice to know. We have the washer to match and also love it. The reviews on this machine were much better than many of the alternatives that we looked at and we are glad we decided to go with it. You shouldn't be disappointed if you choose to buy this dryer, it does what it claims!

Much quicker than my old conventional dryer!

We got the Whirlpool Duet Sport Electric Dryer to replace our old electric that seemed to take 3 cycles to dry our clothes., That is not the case with this dryer. You can have a load of clothes done in under 35 minutes. Heavy items like jeans and towels- done in under 45 minutes. I have had this dryer for almost 3 years and never had one problem with things not drying properly. It also has a fabulous wrinkle shield feature that tumbles your clothes every few minutes until you take them out. This does help on the wrinkles. This is a great compliment to the Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer. The pair does a fantastic job getting our clothing clean and dry and saving energy and electricity, too. The dryer "senses" if the clothes are dry and if not, add time as needed. This is great because I don't often go to take my "dry" stuff out of the dryer only to find that it is still damp (the only exception to this is when I wash my king size sheets. These get twisted around each other and this makes drying a little harder). I don't know if challenged whether or not I would be able to come up with a negative thing to say about this dryer. We love it!

dries my clothes

I purchased the Whirlpool Duet Sport Electric Dryer 3 years ago at the same time we purchased a Whirlpool Duet Sport Front Load washer.  I went with the dryer only because it was on sale and matched the wash machine we were purchasing.  I've been unhappy with the wash machine but haven't had any problems with the dryer.  It does exactly what we expected...to dry our clothes.  The machine is quiet and we have not needed any repairs.  The is already some discoloration on the inside of the dryer, a light blue color where the seams of the drum is and I'm not sure where that is from.  My inclination is that its from denim when it get out.  My old dryer never had that.  The drying cycle is a little long compared to my old dryer but it is energy efficient and recognize there is always a trade off when using less energy.  In this case, I think less energy is used over a longer time period.  The efficiency rating was also key for getting a tax deduction in NYS.

I have some problems with this dryer

I love the washer, but the dryer is a different story.  It takes 1 to 2 hours to dry clothes.  It keeps adding time on to the cycle.  If I turn it off ahead of time, the clothes are more wrinkled.  I have made sure the hose is not kinked and the screen is clean, and it doesn't seem to make any difference.  It now has a rubbing sound like it is rubbing against the drum.  I love the looks of the pair and the ease of using it, but the drying time is confusing me as to how I feel about this product.

I love my Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer ;)

My husband purchased this for me as a gift when we moved into our new house.  My last dryer was not this fast at drying or not as pretty looking.  I absolutely love my dryer.  I have other friends that have the newer style dryers that are not whirlpool brand and they have problems with there.  I have never had a problem with this thing.  It is so efficent and has many choices for how you would like to dry your clothing.  The pros of this dryer are that it dryed clothes very very fast.  My last dryer would take an hour or longer to dry a load.  This one dryes clothes in as little as 35 minutes.  Also we do a ton of heavy duty stuff and this is perfect because it has a selection to do heavy duty stuff.  Which is mostly my husbands stuff.  So ladys this thing can handle your mans heavy duty load in aabout 40 minutes.  I believe that i have never had a problem with this so therefore i do not have any cons. :)

Love my Wirlpool Duet Dryer!

It really does dry fast! I have the sister washing machine, and together that make my laundry *almost* a joy. Surface cleans very easily with a wet rag.  Don't put crayons through it, though! I've had crayons hit the dryer 2 or 3 times, and it has taken a lot of scrubbing with rubbing alcohol to clean it up.  (But it did!)

Very good quality, Whirlpool is one that can rarely be beat!

The Whirlpool Duet on the dryer side is more than I would have thought it would be. At first glance it is nothing extremely special, shiny, but nothing more. The real quality comes from the inside. The first feature that you notice when you see the front panel that most other dryers don't have is a "Wrinkle Shield" button. This nifty little button really does what it says. When you start a load and press the Wrinkle Shield button, after it finishes it's cycle it will automatically go onto a short spin cycle every 5 minutes or so. This keeps your clothes wrinkle free! The Whirlpool Duet Dryer also allows you to adjust certain settings such as dryness, temperature (not the same as dryness), etcetera, etcetera. Now, just to make sure you know, this is a front load. Which means that it is will be much easier on you and your back if you get a front load washer too, that is assuming that you are not purchasing the washer and dryer together. Keep that in mind and your back will thank you.

what a difference!

I purchased the Whirlpool Duet Sport after having problems with my dryer.  While comparison shopping I kept coming back to the many features available in this front loading dryer.  I am a mom who typically has many loads of laundry each day.  I love the fact that this dryer can dry large loads - including comforters without having to take out a half wet load only to start again in the drying process.  I love the sensors because they are typically great at making sure that the entire load is dry instead of just one of the smallest items are dry.  I have the matching washer and did need a service call within the first year.  During this service call I was reminded that the main thing thing that I like about this dryer is the displays and sensors, which is also the main thing to go wrong.  This will cost money to fix if/when it does.  I still love the versitility of the dryer. Whether it is a small load or even a delicate load I can feel confident that I am able to adjust the settings to dry it specificlly related to the indications on the tag.  I do struggle with keeping the dryer vent clean - not the screen but down below that.  The screen itself is easy to clean. Overall a great washer and dryer that meets the needs of a busy mom!
