We use our Whirlpool built in dishwasher EVERY day and sometimes more than once. It has done an average job on cleaning the dishes/items in it. After, about 3 years of use we have had problems with the start button coming off and the silverware tray is broken but still usable. It is also not very quiet, so we tend to run it at night.

Our whirlpool dishwasher ( Du1145XTPB87 ) works well, cleans well and is quieter than any we have ever owned!  How ever it has several features that are quite disturbing.  It is supposed to sense the degree of soil and cleanliness.  But we wash the dishes before we put them in !  All soil is removed because with just two of us, it does not get run but every 2 or 3 days.  The dishwasher still takes one and one half hours to run.  It continlally stops every few minutes, supposedly to " sense " the amount of soil, or to see if they are clean.  I can not understand why with rather clean dishes it takes so long.  If we just scraped off the loose food, I wonder how long it would take then ?      After it finishes the cycle, the dishwashes just sits there with the " washing " lights lit for some time before the " clean " light comes on !    Another irritation is that the " table ware " rack is awkward to fill, and sometimes comes open, occasionally spilling the " table Ware " all over the floor, when I take it to the counter to put things away !

Bought Whirlpool Du1100XTPSB (Stainless Steel) Quiet partner II. It's a very quiet dishwasher as it said. In the past I only turned on the dishwasherat night time before I went to bed and now I am no longer needed to do so. The noraml wash cycle which  is a little longer than I expected, about 2 hrs. Overall the dishwasher is good, very good looking and sparkling clean.

In 25 years, I have owned about 6 dishwashers. The last two years,  have owned a Whirlpool DU1100XTPQA dishwasher and it is by far the best I've owned! I do not pre wash the dishes like I used to. I simply scrape them off and load them. They come clean every time. Sometimes there is an occasion on the top rack, a plastic glass may still have residue left on the inside if my child has mixed his chocolate milk in the cup and left it sit overnight. I like how the silverware is loaded in the door of the dishwasher. Any large utensils I place on the top rack because otherwise, they can interfere with the door of the soap dispenser, causing it to not open. The dishwasher holds a lot of large pieces as well. I use large baking sheets in my cooking and they fit on the sides well. I can also get my large stockpot in the bottom drawer. This dishwasher has more features than I have ever used. I mainly use the normal cylces but have used the pots and pans cycle a few times. I like the heated dry option and it works very well. I like the green  light that comes on when they are finished, telling you the dishes are "clean".

We rinse our dishes before we put them in the washer, but they still don't come out clean.  We use liquid detergent and jet dry but we end up with terrible spots and residue.  The utensil compartment is extremely small and you cannot put more than a few utensils in.  You must use the heavy duty option to get your dishes remotely clean.
