Great dryer for a great price

5

I really like this dryer. I purchased it approximately one year ago when I moved into my apartment. it dries the clothes quickly, there is minimal static cling, and the clothes that true to shape. It is priced relatively low and that makes it all the better. Load Capacity I am able to fit an extra large load of clothes from the washer into the dryer with no issues. It has the potential for more, but I do not ever double up on loads. Performance I can typically dry an extra large load of clothes in forty-five minutes to an hour depending on the material. The dryer could probably be stopped before that time, but I just let it run it's course.. Ease of Use The dryer is very easy to use. It has a knob for the type of drying. It has a knob for the level of heat. It has a knob for the buzzer. I like that you can turn the buzzer off so you are not alerted when the dryer is done. This comes in handy during nap times or night time. Durability I typically do approximately six loads of laundry per week and I dry most everything I wash. I have never had any issues with the dryer. Design The design is very simple which i like. The knobs are located on the back. The dryer vent is easy to reach. The door is easy to open and close. It is very plain, but I like it.

A good dryer

4

This dryer does a good job getting things dryer on the first try. Even when I've overfilled it a bit, it does a fine job. We did have to get the part the senses that the door is closed replaced recently, but that was inexpensive and after quite a bit of use. The repair man said that he thought it was a high quality dryer and would run for quite some time, which I was happy to hear.

Whirlpool Dryer

I absolutely love this dryer! I have not had one single issue with it since we purchased it. It dries evenly and quickly. The clothes come out with minimal wrinkles. It is definitely big enough for our family. I like the options and the the clothes always come out nicely. I do not mind that it is white. Most of our appliances are white and I like that nice clean and simple look. I really did not want a fancy dryer. I just wanted a dryer that was durable and reliable. This dryer has proven to be both. We have a family of five and I do many loads of laundry each week. This dryer has held up even after doing laundry from early in the morning until late at night. I hope I get many more years of use out of it. One thing is for sure, when it does go, we will definitely but another Whirlpool dryer.

So Far, Great Dryer, Great Performance

5

For nearly 17 years (yes, you read that right) our Kitchen-Aid dryer had serviced us quite well through several moves between family members, and then finally the heat sensor on the dryer broke, so we were stuck with a working dryer, just no heat. So, after two months of air and line-drying anything that could, and skipping washing anything extremely heavy, we finally purchased a new Whirlpool Electric Dryer w/Accudry. The first thing I noticed when I inspected the dryer was the size of the drum. It's large, so that means more air gets to your clothes, drying them faster. Tighter, cramped dryers tend to hold moisture, making the inside humid and slowing down drying time. I also know the larger size will allow larger loads, like sheets and blankets, to have more room to move so that they don't ball up into knots and the center is still damp. Not a fun feeling. You work the dryer with a turn-knob based system instead of a push-button one, so if you're not into setting dials, like on an old fashioned timer, you might be thrown aback by this, but it actually comes in handy - you have more control over the temperature and the running time of the dryer vs. a traditional or more modern button controlled dryer. There are several cycles, such as the 'Energy Preferred' settings which come with several different types of dryer settings, from 'Very Dry' (or basically Bone-Dry), to 'Damp Dry' (good for delicates, or anything that can be damaged easily with excessive heat), and the normal timed settings, which range from 1 hour+ to 10 minutes. A Wrinkle-Free setting is also an option if you cannot get to clothes right away, and there is a nice little 30 - 10 minute 'Fluff-Air' setting which uses no-heat and just tosses your clothes - good for getting rid of wrinkles or drying light-weight synthetics. This dryer does get very, very hot if you put it on the High/Heavy setting, and so I use Light/Medium heat for most average loads as they dry perfectly fine either way. If you are looking for a very silent, almost whisper-quiet dryer, you *might *find it here. This isn't a perfectly quiet dryer, but it is surprisingly silent for the price and the size. Generally, the larger and cheaper you go, the louder it gets, but I have not been irritated to death with the sound of this dryer while it is being used and so far, no one has complained about the noise level. The dryer's lint catcher is easy to clean - the lint doesn't clump in this big, hard, dusty chunk that you have to pull on with all your might to get off the catcher. I usually use a metal comb or a simple hairbrush to remove dust and the lint, especially any left-over balls that could potentially clog the dryer. The actual performance? Let me just say, it's impressive! I usually don't have to wait very long for my clothes to get dry - small and medium sized loads with one towel or a pair of jeans gets dry within 35 to 20 minutes on a good day, and anything heavier, 45 minutes at the maximum, even less at that. Because of the dryer's large drum, I have never had problems with clothes getting knotted, tangled, or screwed up into an incomprehensible mess after the cycle is over. I have had few problems with excessive wrinkling, even in my cotton clothing, and the dryer is very easy to use - nothing complicated. I always feel extremely confident putting clothes into the dryer and leaving them in there. So far, so good, and I would generally recommend the Whirlpool brand if you are on a budget and need a good quality washer and/or dryer for not a lot of money.

Quiet and efficient dryer

4

This is a great dryer. It can take a lot of clothes in one load. I can usually put one and half times the load of clothes from Whirlpool washer. The great feature about the dryer is the inside drum light which switches on when you open the dryer door. It is great for those dark utility rooms when you are trying to look for a pair of socks. The dryer is quite and has many energy efficient settings. I personally have expierenced that the clothes remain a little damp in the energy preffered setting and are completly dry in a regular setting. The dryer can sense the dampness of the clothes and runs the cycle if required under the automatic setting. I love the fact that the clothes are always wrinkle less and fluffy when they come out. Also the model has a buzzer when the cycle is done and you can easily turn the buzzer off if required. For the price I think this is perfect.

Whirlpool Electric Dryer

4

I love my whirlpool electric dryer, it dries my clothes quickly and has a variety of setting to choose from, so no matter whether is want to use the timer and set it for a certain amount of time or you can choose to set it to sense the dryness of the clothes. The setting for dryness works really well when you have a small load of laundry of have clothes that you do not want to over dry such as lingurae, such as bras or pantyhose. The timer for drying works well when you have a full dryer or heavy items such as blue jeans or work clothes. The lent catcher is very easy to remove and clean and replace. The whirlpool electric dryer also is energy efficent so its less expensive to use so that it saves you money on your electric bill.

Think twice about buying a Whirlpool Electric Dryer

3

We purchased this Whirlpool Electric dryer about 3 years ago. I am not, generally, please with my purchase. At first the dryer seemed to dry my clothes very quickly and efficiently. However, over time, I noticed that the clothes took longer to dryer and I kept having to change the setting from medium to heavy and also turn the settings up from "Energy Preferred" to "Towels" in order for ANY load to get dried. My sister-in-law also had a similar story with her Whirlpool dryer. Also, I noticed that the top of the dryer scratches very easily. I had to stop putting laundry detergent and bleach on top of the dryer because it was scratching and rusting the top of the dryer. All in all, I'm not sure if I would buy a Whirlpool dryer again.

Quick and Efficient

4

This dryer has 4 settings and dries the clothes quickly, whether it is a large or small load it gets the work done. It has a large drum to take lots of clothes and makes very little noise when turned on. It just quietly spins the clothes dry and if it did not have an end of cycle function you would probably forget about them being in there.. I love the way my clothes look and feel when they come out of the dryer, no wrinkles and perfectly dry in less than half the time. Now instead of waiting for the weekend and the laundry piling up, I often throw a load or two in the dryer through the week. For the money I paid for it, it is very affordable and reliable, which in my opinion is something that you are looking for when making a large appliance purchase. The Whirlpool Electric Dryer WED5100VQ simply does what it is supposed to do. Dry your laundry in the quickest amount of time with amazing results.

Good value for money

Our old dryer was taking a lot of time to dry clothes. I cleaned out the air duct and it helped a bit, but it still took way too long for the clothes to dry. We decided to buy this Whirlpool dryer after checking reviews and in person at Lowes. This did not disappoint us a bit.  One thing was the doors opened from left side and we wanted it to open from the right side. It is very easy to flip the door so you can swap the opening side. Read the manual, it has detailed directions on how to change the door swing side. This dryer comes with many options: regular timed cycle, fluff air cycle for your pillows, the "most used" automatic dry and the energy preferred automatic dry. We use heavy loads and it comes out dry with the first run. For the other reviewer who had had problems - get your air duct checked. it typically gets clogged after use, so you have to check it once a year or so. You will not believe the amount of lint that gets accumulated. After that, use this dryer and you won't be sorry!
