The Whirley Pop popcorn popper is the best corn popper I've ever owned, and I've had several different models.
Whirley Pop is a stove top popper. It's made of very light weight metal, but it holds up just fine. It's thin to heat quickly and pop the corn fast, so it will be fluffy. There's a lid with small air slots to keep the moisture from making the corn soggy. Then, there's a handle to whip the corn around as it's popping. It's really a rather simple machine, but designed just right for perfect popcorn.
The biggest plus is that the popcorn turns are so tasty. It really is similar to movie theatre...
read full review »This is a fantastic popcorn popper. I used it tonight! Just add a bit of oil, put in popcorn and in a couple minutes you have perfect popcorn. There are typically very few unpopped kernels. The popcorn does taste like the movies. We like to use olive oil which makes it a bit healthier and that works great. My daughter also loves to watch us cook. We have an electric cook top and this works well on it - but I must say it worked even better when we had gas.
Buy one - they are inexpenseive and fun to use. They are also easy to clean, but hey - who likes to clean up? Not me.
The...
read full review »I have used every popcorn maker imaginable. My whole family growing up, then myself and my children and grandchildren are popcorn fanatics.
If there was a new one out there to try, I tried it. I stuck to microwave poppers for years, because there was no messy cleanup. I much preferred, however, the taste of popcorn cooked in a little oil, but all the electric machines were impossible to keep ungunked.
Then I found the Whirley Pop at Ace Westlake Hardware last year doing Christmas shopping. I bought myself a red one. A side benefit that I didn't know was possible, and that I didn't expect, is...
read full review »I received a Whirley Pop for Christmas this last year and I absolutley love it! I am a frequent popcorn popper and eating the popcorn popped by this product is way better than any microwaved popcorn I've eaten. I like being able to pop my own popcorn at home with this product, its quick to do and its easy to add your own toppings to, unlike a microwaved popcorn bag. One thing I didnt like about the Whirley Pop is that the piece on the inside that spins around with the crank to keep the kernels from sticking is not very sturdy and it doesnt move the kernels around too much, it kind of just...
read full review »If you love popcorn and are sure you do not like the microwaved kind then the Whirley-Pop is for you. the popcorn is crisp, tasty and needs only a bit of oil to make it. It tastes great with just a little salt, although i like it with some butter, too.
I received a Whirly Popper as a gift and didn't use it as I had lots of bagged popcorn left. But when I tried it I was hooked. I liked the way it worked where you could control the oil and mix different types of kernals. I also liked the real butter I could put on the popcorn over the chemicals in the bags (which they are saying could cause problems now).
I did fine the unit a little difficult to clean and the first few times I made popcorn I didn't use the right oil but after I started doing some research I found ways to make it taste better and better.
You also have to be careful as the...
read full review »The Whirley Pop Popcorn Popper has been around for years and is the greatest invention to popping popcorn the traditional way over the stove. There is a **** on the handle that u turn and it makes this wire inside the pan that spins around and turns the popcorn kernels so they don't burn. It makes the most fluffy popcorn and almost every single kernel pops. When you purchase the Whirley pop, you have different packages you can choose from. For example, you can order the Whirley Pop with different kinds of popcorn kernels or different oil flavors. The Whirley Pop also comes with a different...
read full review »We originally looked at the Whirley-Pop because we were looking for a way to have popcorn without buying microwave popcorn--there were some stories on the news about people who worked in microwave popcorn factories who got sick from the fumes, and we figured that airpopped or stovetop popcorn would be healthier.
My one concern about the Whirley-Pop at first was that it would take too long compared to the microwave. Guess what, it doesn't. I don't even think it takes as long. One of us puts a tablespoon of oil and a half cup of popcorn into the Whirley-Pop and starts cranking, while the other melts...
I bought this for my husband, who is a popcorn freak! I'm not kidding. That man LOVES his popcorn and so I did some research and figured that the old fashioned popcorn maker would beat any of the electric machines. So, I bought him the whirlypop popcorn popper that you use on the stove.
We've had it for years now. And boy! this little thing gets used several times a week.
It really does a fantastic job of leaving very few unpopped kernels. The clever handle and turning device makes it distribute the kernels while you cook and the lid shuts airtight so that there's enough pressure built up inside...
read full review »I was skeptical to buy a whirly jig popcorn popper because of revies that it was SO wonderful.. And I was like.. "come one" it's only a popcorn popper. BUT.. it is truly amazing.. it is just as much fun to MAKE as it is to EAT. The kids actually fight over who gets to make it. It is extremely easy. It actually tastes like movie theater popcorn. I think it is even healthier than microwave popcorn because there is less fat and grease on the popcorn when it is through popping. You can also adjust the amount of salt and butter that you want to add and make it as healthy as you want. ...
read full review »When I was five, I got a yellow bubble style popcorn maker with the hole on top for melting the butter for Christmas and I've been hooked ever since. After that one broke, I got an air popper that made it through my college days, but never loved the results. I got lazy then with the advent of microwave popcorn, but never loved the results either. Last year, however, we got our first whirley pop old-fashioned style popcorn maker. It is super simple to use on the stove top and results in excellent movie style popcorn when you use coconut oil to pop the corn. Every kind of popcorn pops great in it....
