  This book has been a classic in my opinion. I can still remember being a little girl sitting in the school library for story time and this is the book they read us. This book fascinated me when I was a kid. I didn't understand it then, but loved it. When I first read it to my children, I worried they'd be a bit scared, but they loved it and seemed to understand it. We all have those days when we cross over to the wild side, and look forward to home and comfort when we return. It's natural to be wild for a while but most don't really want to live there. I discoverd this book many years ago while taking a children's literature class. It was one that was highly recommended and one that I added to my collection of children's books. I read it to my daughter when she was little and she now has the book and has read it to her three children. They all love it, and prance about growing through the house. — The drawings are vivid and fun. Children will enjoy Max and be able to relate to him about bedtime. I love this book. The illustrations are beautiful, very detailed. — This was my favorite book when I was younger, and I can still appreciate it as an adult. Reading it just pulls you into another world. I was never much of a reader as a child, but I carried this book with me everywhere. — This will be the first book I buy when I have my first child. I have read this book many times. I even passed it on to my son when he was little to help encourage his love of reading. He now has an imagination that surpasses most known boundaries and he loves to read fantasies. I believe this book should be readily available to all new parents to help refresh their memories or read it for the first time and to give them a definite bedtime story to read. I was given this book as a child. I am now almost 50 years old and still enjoy this book very much. I kept this book and passed it on to my son when he was of reading age. He loved the book just as much as I did. This is one of the first books I bought for my boys.  They loved it before they could read and now they read it on their own many times a week.  They love to act out the "wild rumpus", that can be a little trying at times but it is funny also.  They will remember this book forever and I'm sure it will be a favorite of their children some day… read full review »
