In my recent quest to find a palette of lavender eyeshadows from the drugstore, I decided to go back to basics and try good old Wet n Wild brand.  I was pleasantly surprised but still not completely happy with the results.

I have hazel eyes so I decided to try some lavender eyeshadow which always makes the green in my eyes pop out more and look interesting.  I tried a few brands with really bad results before I decided to try Wet n Wild Mega Eyes eyeshadow trio in the shade called Venetian Violets.  The small plastic compact contains three eyeshadows - one really light one, a dark purple one, and a medium lilac shade.  It comes with a small applicator with a foam tip.  There is a small mirror that slides out from the side of the compact which is a nice touch as it does not get as dirty as it would if it was inside with the eyeshadows.

Unlike the other 2 brands I tried, I actually got this eyeshadow to stick to my eyelids.  I used the applicator that came with the eyeshadow to apply it and there it stayed for a few hours.  It is not super long-wearing, but at least it gave me some color and I didn't waste time trying to apply something that just would not stick.  The applicator handle is very short though so my hand kept getting in the way and I could not see what I was doing so I ended up using an applicator with a longer handle.

I'm fairly happy with the fact that I achieved some color on my eyes with this product but unhappy that it seems to use up a lot of product in the process.  This eyeshadow is somewhat soft so I burned thru it quite quickly.  Within a week of using this eyeshadow I had worn a hole thru to the bottom of the medium lilac shade as I use that one the most.  In 2 weeks I had used up all of that shade and worn a hole in the dark purple shade.  The very light shade I tended to not use much at all as it is shimmery and not a good look for me.  At about $3 that's not a lot of money, but I certainly don't want to be buying 2 things of eyeshadow every month.  So even though it worked reasonably well, I seem to need a ton of product to achieve the look I want and that doesn't seem so great either.

3 stars - Wet n Wild MegaEyes is an average eyeshadow.  It performed way better than the other 2 brands I tried (Rimmel and Prestige) but still not great.  I've thrown out all my drugstore eyeshadows and am sticking to Bare Minerals shadows from now on.  Sometimes it pays off in the long run to invest a little more up front for better, longer-lasting results.

Ahh, your sneak peak to me of this one ... and here it is! My assistant back in Knoxville wouldn't use anything but bare minerals and she always had the best makeup you barely noticed it.

I've read a lot of good things about Bare Minerals. I have to check it out.
