Westinghouse - TX-42F430S 42 in. LCD Television Review

My husband bought this Westinghouse 42" LCD television before we were married and I think he was just looking for a good deal.  We have generally had really good experiences with Best Buy, but I think they should re-evaluate stocking any Westinghouse products.  A year to the day after buying this tv, it has turned into a monster.  Unfortunately, my husband didn't know about websites like viewpoints or consumer reports, so prior to the purchase, we were both totally unaware of the horrible experiences people have had with Westinghouse.

The picture quality is nice (for the most part) but that's only when the tv decides to stay on.  It frequently turns off.  Sometimes before losing power, it will display large green squares, then it makes a loud popping noise and shuts off.  Other times it will lose audio first and then the picutre.  We have to unplug it during the day or it will turn itself on and be on all day.  Other times it won't turn on at all, not with the remote or the power button on the side of the display.  We discovered that it behaves a little better when it's plugged directly into the wall instead of a powerstrip, but it is still a giant nuisance. 

The real mystery is that Westinghouse is totally unavailable for help or for comment.  We have since heard many stories of people who have sent their televisions to be refurbished, only to be left for months without word.  We can't find an address for their headquarters and their customer service support is basically worthless. 

It is a real injustice that so many people have been taken advantage of by this horrible company.  Once upon a time I believed thier brand carried some weight, but currently, no one has anything to say about Westinghouse save how much they hate it.
