We caved in and got a flat screen, HDTV, and I can't say as I'm glad we did. While this model is one of the more reasonably priced ones out there,it's still expensive. The picture is fine, but to be honest, I think the whole HD thing is mostlyhype. It looks great if you watch it mere seconds after watching good, old regular tv. Otherwise, you won't really notice the difference in picture quality, unless you're watching a nature show. I like nature shows, but that's not all I watch.
This tv was difficult to set-up, because itcomes with almost no paperwork/instructions. The interface is less than user friendly, and it's somewhat confusing. Espeically since you have to figure out how to do most anything on your own. Once the tv isgoing, it's fine, but it gets hot really quickly, which I find a worry when I fall asleep with the tv on. Also, the built-in dvd play is not an hd play, which pisses me off. I actually bought an HD dvd in anticipation of getting this tv, and now I'm stuck with it, because it doesn't play on anything but an HD dvd player. One would think that the built in dvd player of an hd tv would be,DUH, HD. But no.....
Another thing, I can't play any of my dvds from overseas in this thing, which annoys me. Plus, once there's a dvd in the player, it will keep spinning forever, until you take the dvd out. Pressing the stop button does nothing more than pause the thing. A really bad feature.
With so little HD programming out there, I'd advise people to hold off on buying this or any HDTV. It's sort of a waste of money.
