Traditionally, desktop drives (3.5-inch) have always been the ones to have larger capacities over notebook drives (2.5-inch) due to the physical size. That changed just a few months ago with the introduction of the Western Digital WD2500BEVS 250GB SATA Laptop drive .
Running at 5400RPM, it isn't the fastest (compared to a 7200RPM), but certainly the largest we've seen to date. The 250GB Scorpio is a SATA 1.5Gbps interface drive and has an 8MB cache. Western Digital offers a 3-year warranty on this drive (and on all Scorpio drives).
