At first I was very excited about the prospect of saving my files on an external hardware without using my desktop's storage. So I purchased the WD Elements harddrive with this purpose in mind. It promised to provide reliable service with its rugged metal case for "extra storage protection. The drive worked great for about a year, then one day I turned on my computer, tried to access a file on the Elements and discovered that the computer was not reading contents from the drive. There is no indication that the drive powers up though I checked and recheck the USB connection and power. I am very disappointed because I have lost ALOT of files I need. Now I have to figure out how to retrieve my files from a broken drive that remained stationary on my desk. I have lost faith in harddrives now and will now investigate storing files online. I gave the drive two stars, because it did work for awhile and gave me megastorage capabilities!
