I am a senior at WVU and I currently have a 4.0 GPA, however, I must say that I am only going to WVU because it is affordable and the nearest school for a married non-traditional student. WVU offeres many advantages, like on-line classes, but overall, I have been disappointed with the politics of the whole school. With the recent EMBA scandal involving the governor's daughter, I am concerned that my degree will not be viewed highly when I apply to graduate school. Additionally, the school is not geared towards non-traditional students. The professors are generally nice toward me as an adult student, but the administration could basically care less. They charge full semester fees for part-time students (Fairmont State University 20 miles away pro-rates fees based on # of hours).
The University is basically an extension of the State political scene and West Virginia politics is nothing more than a "good 'ol boys" club. I wish I could have talked my wife into moving, but she works for the university and is married to her job, otherwise this would have been the last school I would have attended.
