West Suburban College of Nursing is such a bad educational experience that you may begin to doubt your choice of nursing as a profession. The instructor turnover is unbelievably high. A small number of the core instructors are competent, but the restĀ seem determined to intimidate and confuse the students. The faculty may be health care professionals but most are terrible teachers. Disorganization, last minute changes to tests and curricula, lack of guidance, it's a nightmare on a regular basis. Clinicals are totally unsupervised and in some cases very dangerous (psych clinical for example). Maybe this isĀ part of trying to get us ready for real world nursing?? This program is not nurturing in the least. There is absolutely no consideration for trying to support students as they make their way through a tough program...it's as if the staff needs to fail a set amount of students every semester. Lots of students fail out, there's a huge backlog for appeals. There are much better schools. Don't put your goal of being a nurse at risk by attending this program. Go where the faculty actually loves what they do and want to help you succeed.
