Sadly, the West Bend Stir Crazy Popcorn Maker 82306 didn't live up to my expectations. I was so excited because it made me remember the nostalgic taste and experience of popping popcorn with a little bit of oil, butter and salt and watching the butter melt down onto the kernals. I was not impressed with the lack of an on/off switch. I was disappointed when the non-stick coating started flaking after the second use.
On a positive note, I did like the top's ability to double as the bowl. It was relatively easy to clean up and my daughter really enjoyed watching it stir and pop. (I did too!) This did pop more kernals than some of the other poppers I have used.
I feel the one from my youth was built better and performed better than this one and that it isn't worth the price I paid. However, I would still recommend it to my friends/family if they are looking for an electric hot-oil popper with a warning that the outside gets very hot so caution is needed - especially around children of all ages.
