I had my old crock pot 20 some years and I actually loved how this new crockpot cooked until the lid broke.  Call me old fashioned but I think it should last more than a year.  The knob on the lid is  what broke and it is just poorly designed.  A long screw goes through the whole lid and knob and just a little piece of plastic holds it on the end of the screw.  The lid is heavy and it doesn't take long for the plastic to fatigue and break.  You can write/go online to the manufacturer for replacement parts.  I didn't look up what a new lid would cost ,my handy husband just fashioned me a new knob with a longer screw, doesn't look very pretty but it will work.

I did like the timer feature that would switch off to warm when it was set.  I wish there was a way to switch settings from high to low also but there isn't.  I also found that roasts almost always cooked  more quickly than the times stated in recipes.
