West Bend 84386 6 gt Crockpot Works Great

By

from Mason, MI

Comments about West Bend 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

I have used my West Bend Crockpot a lot and I have to say that it has always cooked evenly and worked great for me. I use it quite often, finding a nice meal when i get home all ready to eat which sure beats starting dinner at 6pm....it helps to make sure you eat more healthy instead of stopping off for fast food because you are tired. I have made everything from Roasts to Meatballs in it and find it a wonderful addition to my kitchen. I actually own three of these, one was given to me by a friend who rarely used it and now she says she wished she hadnt given it up. So the next football gathering we have, I am going to fill it with cabbage rolls and deliver it to her home the night before all prepared so she can serve them to her husband and his friends and have her crock pot back!

works well

By

from Brookland, AR

Comments about West Bend 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

I am a stay at home mom with 2 kids, and have a sick parent to take care of.  The slow cooker works well on busy days and cooks evenly and keeps things warm untill we are ready for them.  It is a time saver and money saver Although It is  time saver nd money saver, it is rather bulky and hard to clean.  You cannot put in dishwasher, and it is a lttle too large to fit in sink.  other than that I have no complaints about this item.  And I guess all slow cookers are hard to clean..;

THIS IS NO CROCK

By

from Marion, SC

Comments about West Bend 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

CROCKPOTS OR SLOW COOKERS ARE MUST-HAVES, ESPECIALLY WITH TODAY'S ECONOMY.       NO HOUSEHOLD SHOULD BE WITHOUT.     YOUR DAY IS SET, WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO USE YOUR CROCKPOT TO FIX A MEAL.

START YOUR MEAL IN THE CROCKPOT (ON LOW) BEFORE YOU GO TO WORK-

WHEN YOU RETURN, YOUR MEAL IS COOKED PERFECT(WELL-SEASONED, AND TENDER)-------JUST BRIBE A LOVE-ONE TO DO THE DISHES

Lid not well constructed

By

from Voltaire, ND

Comments about West Bend 6-Quart Slow Cooker:

I had my old crock pot 20 some years and I actually loved how this new crockpot cooked until the lid broke.  Call me old fashioned but I think it should last more than a year.  The knob on the lid is  what broke and it is just poorly designed.  A long screw goes through the whole lid and knob and just a little piece of plastic holds it on the end of the screw.  The lid is heavy and it doesn't take long for the plastic to fatigue and break.  You can write/go online to the manufacturer for replacement parts.  I didn't look up what a new lid would cost ,my handy husband just fashioned me a new knob with a longer screw, doesn't look very pretty but it will work.

I did like the timer feature that would switch off to warm when it was set.  I wish there was a way to switch settings from high to low also but there isn't.  I also found that roasts almost always cooked  more quickly than the times stated in recipes.
