My Favorite Appliance!

My slow cooker is so great! It's big enough to do full size roasts, but not so overwhelmingly big that it takes up too much space. I keep it in the cabinet with the rest of my pots and pans. It's super easy to use and easy to clean too!

west bend slow cooker

We got our West Bend slow cooker 7 years ago, and we have used it quite a bit. The only problem was the little sticky footpad came off and now it is slightly lopsided. The functionality of the cooker is fantastic. I love that I can cook things on low heat or high. Most of the time we use the high function, since it speeds up the cooking process. It is pretty heavy, but I expected this. It is very sturdy, no chips or cracks in the inserted bowl. I do wish there were some way to keep the metal from getting so hot on the outside, since I have burned my hand on it before, but just once and no redness to the skin so it was just a temporary feeling of burning. Overall, we love this cooker for soups, cheese dip, etc.

It works well.

We like our West Bend 6-Quart Slow Cooker, it has worked well for us for the last 5 years. Our West Bend 6-Quart Slow Cooker actually came with our house. So, I'm not sure how much it cost... but it really has performed well for us. It is just a general slow cooker. It has 4 settings. Off, Keep Warm, Low, and Hot. The hot does get REALLY hot and the sides of the crock pot get pretty hot and the handles.. so watch out for that... especially if you have little hands (kids) running around your kitchen like I do. Pros: works well, has been working well for 5 years Cons: Not very many settings, it gets very hot to the touch on the outside, It is very difficult to clean baked on crap on the inside. I really dont like that. There is always kind of a ring or film on the inside that just wont go away no matter how much you scrub. Bottom line: There are probably better and fancier slow cookers out there, but this one gets the job done.

This West Bend Crockpot is Great for our family.

We have two large crockpots in our household and I like them both.  This crockpot from West Bend is very easy to use with three basic settings.  We do not need a "high tech" slow cooker with all the bells and whistles, and for the price, this one fits the bill.  No pun intended.  We use this cooker for stews and soups, and it cooks a great roast.  Nice and tender without "babysitting".  The lowest setting (other than "off") is perfect for yogurt, and we make it frequently.  A lot a milk, a little culture, and some recycled one half gallon cottage cheese containers.  Fill the pot with warm water and let sit for about 6-8 hours.  Nice and creamy yogurt.  This crockpot is also wonderful for church potlucks since food can be kept warm until serving, without monopolizing the little church oven.  The liner is then used as a serving dish.  I would recommend this crockpot to anyone...except those folks that prefer timers and buzzers.

The West Bend 6-Quart Slow Cooker is great for a large family

I first have to say that the size of this cooker is huge. You can easily fit a 5 lb. roast in it and still have plenty of room for veggies. The word slow is a little misleading. I have never seen a crockpot that cooks faster. A recipe that usually takes 8 hours is done in about 4 hours. It has three temperature sttings, warm, low and high but most things will cook on low or even warm. I don't know if this was intentional on West Bends part or if it's a glitch but watch what you are cooking and adjust the temp before you walk out and leave it or you may find it scorched when you return. I hate to sound negative because I really do like the cooker. I like being able to remove the crock for serving and it cleans up fairly easily unless something is cooked at too high a temp. As I said earlier if you are cooking for a large group then this crock pot is the ticket. The price is really good compared to other cookers of it's size and the stainless and black is nice looking too.

Good for the money

I have had this crock pot for at least 5 years. It is very large and really allows me to cook almost anything I want in it. I have made roasts, soups, chicken, you name it. It is really a really versatile crock pot. It has 3 settings-warm, low, and high. This seems to be more than what I have seen on some crock pots. I really like the warming feature. The temperatures that this cooks at seem to be a little off. It really seems to cook hotter than most crock pots. That said, this has it's up and it's downs. It's nice when you are in a hurry. I have literally cooked food from frozen to done in several hours. It does make it difficult to determine how long it's going to take to cook your food. You really have to know what your food cooks at and it takes a few trials. I put some roast in in the morning before work. I put it on low as I intended to cook for 8 hours or so. However when I came home at lunch I knew that it was already almost done cooking. I had to set it at low for the rest of the day so it wouldn't burn. So I really try not to use it when I need to be gone all day. It's very large and really does get the job done if you can keep an eye on it every now and then. I think the high heat also causes the food to stick to the pot a little more. Even if I have cleaned it immediately after dinner, it still has to soak. I think I will use the liners from now on.

West bend crock pot, 6 quart gets the job done!

OK So I kinda have mixed reviews on this Crock pot because at first I had gotten one for my wedding and I used it quite a bit but then I relized that it was so hot when I even had it on the "keep warm" setting. So I decided to trade it in for another one and after I got another one it works fantastic! I think that the size of the pot is great we started out just me and my husband and I now our family is made of 4 but I think that I will never need a bigger one it will always work for us. I still think that the "keep warm" setting is a little hot because if you left it on all day it would still cook and I would like it to just sit and warm and not cook the food. I think that the pot comes out it makes it so easy to clean and sometimes I will just stick it in the dishwasher and let that do the job. Overall I think this is a great Crock Pot and would recommend this to anyone especailly for the price!

West Bend slow cooker cooks hotter than normal.

3

I love this slow cooker for its size, I can easily feed my family of 6 with it. However, the one thing I don't like about it is that it cooks hotter than normal. I've burned things because they cook a lot faster than expected.  Clean-up is really difficult too, but if you use a liner inside then it's a breeze.  Good slow-cooker, but you do have to be aware that it will cook hotter.
