I received a West Bend slow cooker a couple of yeaars ago. It was the only one of it's kind. We couldn't find one quite like it in the united States. This one was purchased in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. It has been the best one that I have ever used. It has a dial that goes up to six on the cooking pot. If I want to fix somethin g rapidly I put it on six and something that would usually take 8 hours in some other crock pot now gets done in 4 or less hours. If you put the setting on 3 or 4, then you can fix a roast or some other meat dish, and let it slow cook for 6 to 8 hours. There's not much chance of burning your food in this slow cooker, you just keep an eye on it and make sure that you put the correct amout of water in it when you first start. My son bought me a ceramic based slow cooker for Christmas last year thinking I needed a bigger cooking pot, but I just can't get used to that one. My West Bend is the greatest and I hope that it lasts as long as I can keep cooking with it.
