This product in a nutshell: is a very standard, no-frills treadmill that is on the lower end of gym equipment.  I have yet to have any mechanical problems with the Weslo Cadence CT 5.8 Treadmill, however, it lacks a few features that affect my overall opinion.

Like most people, I tend to put on some pounds during the holiday season caused all the eating and drinking I do.  (Hey, it's rude to turn down an invite to a Christmas party!  Hee hee!)  This year, I made a commitment to myself to not only eat better, but start exercising consistently.  I found the Weslo Cadence CT 5.8 Treadmill at my local K-Mart.  It had been discounted to around $300.00 from an original price of $390.00.  After standing on the display model in the store, I turned it on and walked,  The unit seemed to work well and I really liked the plain, easy-to-understand display panel.  After a few minutes of talking it over, my husband and I decided to make the big purchase.

Assembly/Storage:

Assembling this treadmill was not stressful, as the instructions were clear and easy to read, but moving it to the corner of the basement was no easy task.  This treadmill is really heavy and the wheels on the bottom do not turn easily, making any type of transport extremely laborious.  A storage latch on the side rail allows the bottom to be held into an upright position, but because the Weslo is so cumbersome and heavy, I simply cannot see any user regularly folding it up to put away into a closet or storage area,

Key Points:

This product has a very easy to read console and checking your progress is simple as every 5 seconds the display flashes your workout details every 5 seconds (I.e. the speed, distance, how long you've been jogging, etc..  The Weslo Cadence CT 5.8 Treadmill also provides 4 pre-programmed workouts depending on your desired level of intensity.  There are also pins on either side of the treadmill, located near the legs that allow you to adjust the incline.

My biggest complaint about this product is that the handrails and treadway are too short.  I am 5 ft 9 in tall and even I have difficulty holding onto the railings for balance, so I wish they extended farther back.  I have long legs and sometimes feel that if I am not far enough forward, I'll lose my footing and fall on my face.  I feel like I have to step in the exact same place with every pace.  This product is also very, very noisy.  The motor makes a loud noise and squeaks with every step, even after I tightened the legs.

I give this product 3/5 stars because: because of its basic nature and lack of features like a magazine rack or electric incline adjuster.  I have yet to have any mechanical problems after 4 months of almost daily usage.  I would recommend this product for any exercise novice on a budget.  A more sophisticated gym enthusiast will be unimpressed with this machine's overall lack of features and noisy disposition.
