Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Review

I did business with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in 2 states, Iowa and Florida from 1985 until 2005, carrying a mortgage on my home.  The last 5 months I had the mortgage (I paid twice a month) I missed one of the bi-monthly payments in July.  I paid off the loan in full on December 3, 2005.  The company gave me a late report on 5 payments, July through December, even though December was paid on time.  In addition, I had a credit card with the company that was paid in full in December at the same time.  In July of 2006, my attorney for the closing in November 2005 called to ask me if I had received my mortgage payoff papers from the county, after checking I had not received them.  To make a long story short, the property was still not clear after 6 months as Wells Fargo had not cleared the mortgage nor had they cleared the credit card.  To make matters worse, they refused to discuss with the attorney who handled the closing and were rude about the requests as to why this was not all taken care. In discussions with my attorney he said Wells Fargo was notorious for poor business follow through.  I was angry as I had been a customer for 20 years with this company and was treated very poorly in my opinion.  I realize I was late on the July payment, however to be treated this way after 20 years of paying interest and paying off the loan five years early was disappointing to say the least.  I would not recommend Wells Fargo Home Mortgage for any business transactions.
