Wells Fargo - College Visa Card

A learning card!

5

I have had my Wells Fargo College card since I begin my college career 5 years ago. There is no annual fee. The first year there is 0% APR, after that the rates become variable. Due to the fact that I also have checking accounts through Wells Fargo, I can link my card to one of these accounts to avoid overdraft charges. Paying on my Wells Fargo College card is so much easier than any other credit card. Again, because I am a Wells Fargo Account holder it makes things much easier. All this entails it just literally clicking transfer. The funds go from my checking or savings account, straight to my credit card balance. As far as security goes, Wells Fargo is on top of things. Whenever we go out of state, I call the company to let them know the states we will be in and the dates. One time prior I did not notify them and they put a hold on my card because I had spent money at a few different stores. Although at the time it was a pain, it makes me feel very safe and secure when using my card.

Great for starting off

I got the Wells Fargo - College Visa Card when I first started college so that I could begin to build credit for later on in life. My original limit was pretty low, but that was because I did not have any previous credit. I decided to only use my credit card for things that I had money in my account for and that were necessities, not wants: food, gas, etc. It was easy to make the payments, and I never once had trouble with the bank or the statements. Over time, my credit limit increased. When I graduated college, I was able to make a smooth transition from a college card to a regular credit card. I found this to be an excellent way to help build my credit for real life. Customer Service I rarely had to call the customer service for the Wells Fargo - College Visa Card; I think the only time was when I mistakenly transferred money from the credit card to the checking account instead of the other way around. The customer service representative was extremely kind, helpful, and fixed the problem within minutes. Available Rates The rates for the Wells Fargo - College Visa Card were extremely high, but they never really mattered to me because I knew that I would only be using my credit card for food, gas, et cetera, all of which I had money for in my bank accounts. I always paid off my full balance each month, so I never had to worry about getting low interest rates.

The Wachovia college student credit card is great to start off.

I got this as my first credit card a few months ago. I was desperately looking for a way to build my credit, as I am a college student aspiring to go to law school some day. No bank or department store ever approved me for any sort of credit due to my lack of credit history. Go figure! Your trying to start but everyone denies you because you haven't started. AH! So I went to my local bank and asked them if they had any options for students like me. Surely they told me about this credit card made specially for college students trying to get their credit score started. I got approved for $600, with a pretty high interest rate might I add. But who cares! Soon enough i'll have credit and more companies will be willing to accept my aplications. I am really appreciative of this offer that Wachovia gives students out there. They know what we go through, they know you need to start somewhere. So they decide to help you unlike all the other companies out there.

Best Card for First Time Credit Card Owners!

This is one of the easiest, safest, and best credit cards to start with when you are a College Student, and this is your first credit card. The Wells Fargo Cash back credit card is a way for college students, both employed and non-employed, to begin building thier credit. For those who qualify for this card normally have a lower limit compareed to normal credit cards and that baisically keeps you out of trouble if you push the limit becuase your not putting yourself in a rediculious amount of debt, but Im the type of person that does not like debt, so Im going to teach you all a trick. This trick will benefit you in 4 ways: you will EARN REWARDS, BUILD CREDIT, NOT PAY INTEREST, STAY OUT OF DEBT. So how I do it is I DONT USE MY DEBIT CARD, I use my credit card for ALL my purchases(Gas, Fast Food, Books, Ect) knowing that at the end of the month I can PAY them OFF, & because Im paying my credit card off in the 1st month, I DONT PAY INTEREST, I BUILD GOOD CREDIT, AND on top of that, I EARN 1% CASH BACK. So if I spent about $5000 on my credit card alone in 1 year and i payed it off every month, then that means Im getting $50 back in my pocket just for spending my own money. LOVE This CARD!

A good card for younger people wanting to establish credit

4

The Wells Fargo College Card is a great for younger people wanting to establish credit. For a risk-adverse bank it's pretty amazing that Wells Fargo offers such a product but they do try to mitigate their risk. First and foremost, you're likely to get a credit limit somewhere between $500-$1,500 depending on your relationship with the bank and your previous balances. They offer a fairly low 6-month introductory rate and then look for an APR around 20%. After 12-months of good payment history and usage (see below) Wells Fargo should increase your credit limit. This is where usage becomes important. Always try to keep below 50% of your credit limit. This can be tough when you only have a limit $500 but use it for regular payments like cell phone bills and utilities. Always pay-off your entire balance on time, every month. Wells Fargo also offers a cash back program. This is pretty good but with a limit of $500 you're not going to make a fortune but at least it's handy if you ever need it. All-in-all it's a good card to start building a solid credit history.

I love the cash back!

I really enjoy the cash back feature on this card.  I previously had a different college credit card account with another bank which gave me NO benefits at all!  Even though it's only one percent, that adds up over time!  I love watching the balance accrue up to the cash back account--$25.  It will deposit right back into my checking account with Wells Fargo, which is wonderful!  For a credit card, it's not half bad.  Of course, always make sure to pay off your balance in full every month so your cash back isn't eaten up by interest charges!  This card has no yearly fee which is wonderful.  I feel like I'm buying on sale whenever i use it.  Only a one percent sale, but every little bit helps, right?  It is great for building credit when you're just starting out and also for convenience. . . I carry it with me everywhere, because Visa is almost universally accepted.  I wish I could use it for my house payment, though!
