As I sit here preparing to write this review, Brandy, nominally my daughter's Schnauzer, but in reality my constant companion is staring up at the bag and licking her lips. She appreciates quality and good taste and so do I.

Some Background

Several months ago, we switched dog foods. Brandy wasn't eating very well. We switched to Core Original Formula by Wellness. High protein, human grade Turkey, Chicken and vegetables with no by-products, grains or artificial preservatives. Brandy bought in in a big way! She immediately attacked her food and has been devouring it regularly since then.

Wellness Pure Rewards Beef Jerky Bits for Dogs

On a recent trip to Pet Supermarket to pick up another bag of Core, I noticed a special offer of a free bag of Wellness Pure Rewards Beef Jerky Bits for Dogs with my purchase. Of course I took it. It was a $7.99 value and coming from Wellness (owned by Old Mother Hubbard, Inc.), I had a hunch that Brandy might like these treats. I had a choice. I could have chosen Poultry or Venison. Venison? There would be no living with Brandy if I started feeding her Venison Jerky. We went with the Beef.

So, what's in it?

The ingredients are pretty straight forward. Beef, Dried Chicory Root, Cultured Whey, Sea Salt, Garlic and Mixed Tocopherols ( a natural preservative). That's it.

Wellness promises, minimal ingredients, grain free, incredible taste and they'll be gone in one bite. Big words!

The Verdict

Wellness is as good as their word. Brandy loves them. In fact, while I've been writing, she's snookered me out of 6 of these treats and she's looking for more. They measure about 1" x 3/4" and are sold in a 6oz. bag. That's a lot of treats for $7.99. The taste? Well Brandy has explicitly told me, but since I've tasted them (in fact, eating one now), I'll tell you. In a word, superb! This really is human grade food. It differs from beef jerky for humans only in that they aren't quite as spicy and contain no brown sugar or mollasses.

My (and Brandy's) Viewpoint

This is a treat your dog is going to love. And, for you, they go pretty well with an ice cold beer while watching a football game! Go ahead, do it. It'll help you bond.

Regards,

Rudi

You really cannot beat a pet product that uses real beef can you? Nice review.

Wellness makes some great quality pet foods and snacks! I think I'll pass on eating one myself though :)
