Most HelpfulI read lots of reviews on other sites too about Wellbutrin and after my depression came back I decided to ask my doctor if I can try it.(Before I was on Zoloft and than Lexapro, but either they stopped to work or I put on so much weight and lost my sex drive, I stopped taking it.) I jump started Wellbutrin and...
read full review »My husband was on Celexa for 18 months for depression/mild anger due to war-related PTSD issues. Celexa helped with the issues, but caused lethargy and sexual dysfunction. He spent a lot of time sleeping, and when he retired and got a job, it was causing issues.
Dr. Fialkov at the VA listened carefully to his problems and said he thought the best course of action was for him to take Wellbutrin XL (budeprion), but that he couldn't get it free from the VA, so let's look at others... I was like: "no, if that's the best in your professional opinion, let's do that."
It was REALLY expensive to switch...
read full review »I have taken Wellbutrin, in all its forms, off and on (mostly on) for over ten years. Every time I quit taking it, I feel horrible. However, the good effects of it only seem to last for a week or two. For the first few weeks I feel so energetic and like I can do anything I set my mind to. My depression gets so much better, and I even quit smoking. After about 2 weeks, the depression is back, and grows from there on. Every time the doctors "up" the dosage I have that same 1 to 2 week "high". As of now I have been taking it pretty much non stop for about 4 years (the generic bupropion xl)....
read full review »WellbutrinXR is an antidepressant that may also be useful in helping kick addictions of all sorts, including cigarettes, alcohol, and opiates (pain meds).
In my own experience, I was in a boat wreck in 1996 and left with a crippled left leg and chronic pain. Now, let me tell you something my doctors never told me. If you suffer chronic pain and must take opiates for relief, you will become tolerant to the med doses, and physically addicted. This is NOT anything similar to a street addict at all. This is a normal side effect of a necessary, life saving med (anyone doubt that, try...
read full review »I was diagnosed with Clinical Depression. I had been treated wih Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft. None of them worked and I began to think nothing ever would. I began to see a psyciatrist and he was amazed that no doctor had thought to try Wellbutrin. He asked whether I'd try it and I jumped at the chance. It gave me hope.
It turned out that the hope was well justified. I felt better and had more energy soon after I started taking it. I was much clamer and little things didn't disturb me as much. I stopped losing my temper for trivial things. As a matter of fact trivial things didn't bother me at all....
read full review »I was put on this medication for major depression. Although I have had to add other drugs to treat my depression, I started feeling better about 3 weeks after starting wellbutrin. In addition to helping me feel better, I have also cut way down on smoking, from about 1 1/2 packs a day to about 1/3 of a pack a day. If that is a side effect, it is one I will gladly have.
