Weight Watchers Chicken Santa Fe - Kind of Like a Grilled Meal.

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

Generally I prefer lighter meals at night, so the Weight Watchers Smart Ones Chicken Santa Fe sounded like a good bet. It's one of the bistro selections in the line and includes chicken, black beans and some veggies (bell peppers, onions, and zucchini). It's just in a light spicy sauce rather than having cheese or gravy or high calorie stuff mixed in.

WW Santa Fe is a small serving. It says it has a full serving of vegetables, and you know that's not a lot. Plus, it's only 140 calories. That tells you right there that you don't get a lot of food. That's OK though. I just wanted a quick dinner that wouldn't sit heavy before bed. It was one of those late nights.

I really liked this meal. It was mostly the seasonings. There's a little spice to this microwave meal. It's not a whole lot - but enough to satisfy my love for zesty foods.

The chicken was tender. The beans made it a little more filling. Actually I couldn't hardly taste the vegetables, and they were cut small.

This meal would taste nice over rice I'm sure. It's kind of that kind of texture with the light sauce. I could see it with rice and a salad for a bigger meal.

They put quite a bit of salt in the Chicken Santa Fe (33% for the day). I'm not even a big salt eater. I don't know why all the processed foods have so much salt. I guess it helps it keep longer or something, but they could cut most of that salt, and I'd not miss it.

There is no way this kind of meal would work for my boys. There's not enough food, and it's just not hearty enough in general. But, it's not designed for teen boys I'm sure. So, they can have one of those big frozen "man" meals, and I can enjoy this Santa Fe without feeling like I had a yucky dinner while they got good ones.
