This is the best way to lose weight in my opinion. You can make it a lifestyle change and keep the weight off forever. It is not a quick fix though. People who need ot lose weight have to realize---weight goes on gradually; it comes off gradually. To do it right, you have to reduce the amount you take in and increase the amount you burn. Very simple premise that many of us (including myself) have a hard time following. WW gives you a formula to help you figure out how much to eat without restricting what you eat. I am all about numbers and this is right up my alley. They offer different approaches depending on your weight loss style. I prefered the point tracking system and I found it fun to find low and zero point options. It is very important that you attend meetings though. I know I know, who wants to sit around in a meeting for 45 minutes talking about weight loss. Trust me, it helps. You get good ideas, you are able to talk about your issues, and the comraderie is very important. I have tried so many differnt programs, and this was sthe one that was successful. You don't have to buy special foods, drugs or materials. All it takes is the committment on your part.
I lost 73 lbs in 1 1/2 years following weight watcher's. The thing I don't like is when I got pregnant, they basically kicked me out. You cannot be on the program while you are pregnant. I have to say that REALLY affected me because all of a sudden, I didn't have my meetings anymore and I was gaining weight! (Babies tend to do that...)
However, I recovered and will continue to "work the program". Of course now I'm pregnant again, so here comes more pounds!!!
