Weight Loss Diets (All Types) Review Summary

Thinking about going on a diet? Our reviewers are split about the merits of Weight Loss Diets over just increasing activity and eating smaller portions of the food you like. Some say that diets deprive you of foods you enjoy and set you up for failure. Others believe the only way to shed pounds is to follow a diet that you have chosen from the hoards of diets out there. One way or the other, eating healthy and getting enough exercise are two things everyone of any weight should aspire to. To diet or not to diet? Read our reviews of several diet plans and see if one fits your needs and lifestyle. Just remember that weight loss should be gradual and the focus should be on learning new eating habits to maintain the loss you work so hard for!

This year I decided to "finally" write down some goals.  I wanted them to be positive AND attainable.  Unrealistically, I made numerous resolutions to lose weight and put a number on it, ie; 15, 20, or 30 lbs..  This year is the year to change it up!

Instead, my goal is to eat healthier and incorporate...

Diets in general are very hard to stick too. They actualy have recieved a bad name for just that reason. I am a fan of diets and believe that anyone with the will to lose weight can do it with the exception of those who are immobile or have any sort of weight disease. I think if shedding a few pounds is your goal than dieting will work. Now if you are trying to take off over 15 pounds dieting in general may not be for you. Weightloss is a struggle therefore if you want to lose alot of weight you should consider healthy lifestyle instead of dieting. Healthy lifestyle allows you to lose weight...

I have tried everything, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, South Beach and self control.  Nothing seemed to work.  Then I joined a community walk/run group.  How awesome was that.  They were very supportive.  I met new people and I became very devoted.  I began particiapting in 5k, 10k, and 13.1 runs.  After four months of the program, I got to the point that I would run independently and was self motivated.  Then the aches and pains began to plague me.  I was proactive and sought treatment.  Great!  I was back on track.  Now a year later, I have an injury that has competely sidelined me. ...

I have tried EVERY diet known to man. I even tried a religious diet, where I had to say a several prayers before eating to see if it was hunger or not. I was looking through the internet looking for the Newest diet for me to try. The page that came up was the food pyramids. I thought I have never read about the food pyramids so I took the time to read it. After reading it I thought well I never tried this so I sat down and figured out for a diet of 1600 calories what foods I need from the food pyramids. I then made up menus for the first week and I thought well that was alot work I better try it...

I have tried so many diets over my lifetime. I mean many, many diets, products, programs - you name it, I've tried it short of surgery. I found out there is no shortcut. The only thing that has worked for me is a free online community called Sparkpeople. I have learned how to track my food & exercise. There are so many different types of teams to join. As a member,  I have my own webpage, joined different teams, blog, and interact with other Sparkpeople members. There are so many resource articles, exercise videos, health articles and so many tools to help learn to eat healthy. One of the...

Ok, First of all this is'nt a item its advice. Ok, so first of all the best type of exercise you can get is walking about 2 to 3 miles a day. If you run out of breath when your walking slow down just a little bit. Another important detail is that you should have a partner to talk to. I also found a way to get a little good stuff in your diet. ONCE every month you can have a small starbucks or meal from Mcdonalds or Burger King only once. He are some things that you might wan't to change about how you eat. Instead of fried chicken eat grilled chicken with a salad with no vinager or ceaser. Instead...

I am a stay at home mother of 2 and only 25 years of age. I dont get out much so cleaning and taking care of my boys is the most activity I get during the day. I recently got the wii fit and have lost 2 lbs. and well gained it back already. It's hard to find the motivation. Me being home everyday I definately have the time and no matter how much I would love to lose weight I dont have the motivation and I Hate to say I LOVE food. Before children I weighed in at 115 lbs. and had the perfect body but now at this point in time I weigh the most I ever have in my life. I watch the biggest loser... read full review »

First off, people need to realize that "Fad" diets are normally not good for you. We know that, lets say, if  you are diabetic your doctor will give you a nutritionist to go to that reviews foods that are good, bad and ugly for you. No zone diets, pills, etc.  Why spend hundreds of dollars to Jenny Craig, etc for them to tell you to buy foods you can find for a heck of a lot cheaper, made exactly how you want made and how you want to make your portions for other meals. People need to realize that for the most part you can eat what you want in moderate amounts. Any doctor will verify this. Another...

I quit smoking a little over three years ago. When I did I gained 35 pounds. I started at 130 and ended at 165. At first it didn't bother me. I figured when I got over cigarettes the weight would come back off. It always had in the past. It didn't.

One afternoon I was sitting on the couch watching T.V. when a Weight Watcher's commercial had come on. It said simply "eat less, move more" and that is what it all boils down to. It's a simple formula, if you let it be.

From that day forward I paid attention to that very thing. When I loaded my plate up for dinner I took just a little less than I normally...

In order to maintain a healthy weight and to lose weight, it is all about balance in your life. When maintaining, the energy intake in the form of calories should be about equivalent to the amount of energy out in terms of the number of calories burned throughout the day.

Now in terms of food, it's not just about the calorie numbers, you need to make sure your body is getting the right energy from nutrient dense foods and fibrous sources such as a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains while leaving out the junk and sugary items.

To keep your muscles, bones, and heart healthy, one needs...

Everyone always hears fad diets and diets that seem too good to be true. but really, all you really need to do is just pick the right things. If you like yogurt for breakfact, choose lite, and you saved already almost 50-100 calories depending on the brand. if you pick lite syrup on your pancakes instead, then you save about 100 calories too. there are so many different ways to save calories. If you save 500 calories a day(it sounds like a lot, but really, the little things add up) then that will be a pound gone for that week. and of course exercise always helps. take the dog for a walk, or just...

After trying to lose weight for the last thirty years, I have found that the best way is to get away from the kitchen table.  I started by eating smaller portions, and not going back for seconds.  That helped, so I added  parking a little farther from the store, and having to take even a few more steps a day also helps.  I can,t say that I do not eat the occasional piece of chocolate, or that I eat everything that is healthy for me, but I find myself eating more fruits and vegatables , than I used to. The last time I went to my doctor, she said that I lost 10 pounds.  That was in a months...

There is no magic pill to weight loss...Its everything in moderation...Eat properly and exercise.Allow yourself a splurge on ocassion..But make it a treat not an every day occurrence..Make wise choices when it comes to your daily food.Toss in as much fruits and vegtables you can .Choose whole grain.Read labels.Walk or take the stairs where ever you go ..A diet must not be limited it must include all foods and drinks in order to be a lifestyle change.Important factor...moderation..balance.Exercise does not have to be in the gym and a killer. It can be as simple as turning the stereo on and dancing...
