Most HelpfulThis year I decided to "finally" write down some goals. I wanted them to be positive AND attainable. Unrealistically, I made numerous resolutions to lose weight and put a number on it, ie; 15, 20, or 30 lbs.. This year is the year to change it up!
Instead, my goal is to eat healthier and incorporate...

Most HelpfulDiets in general are very hard to stick too. They actualy have recieved a bad name for just that reason. I am a fan of diets and believe that anyone with the will to lose weight can do it with the exception of those who are immobile or have any sort of weight disease. I think if shedding a few pounds is your goal than dieting will work. Now if you are trying to take off over 15 pounds dieting in general may not be for you. Weightloss is a struggle therefore if you want to lose alot of weight you should consider healthy lifestyle instead of dieting. Healthy lifestyle allows you to lose weight...

I have tried everything, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, South Beach and self control. Nothing seemed to work. Then I joined a community walk/run group. How awesome was that. They were very supportive. I met new people and I became very devoted. I began particiapting in 5k, 10k, and 13.1 runs. After four months of the program, I got to the point that I would run independently and was self motivated. Then the aches and pains began to plague me. I was proactive and sought treatment. Great! I was back on track. Now a year later, I have an injury that has competely sidelined me. ...

I have tried EVERY diet known to man. I even tried a religious diet, where I had to say a several prayers before eating to see if it was hunger or not. I was looking through the internet looking for the Newest diet for me to try. The page that came up was the food pyramids. I thought I have never read about the food pyramids so I took the time to read it. After reading it I thought well I never tried this so I sat down and figured out for a diet of 1600 calories what foods I need from the food pyramids. I then made up menus for the first week and I thought well that was alot work I better try it...

I have tried so many diets over my lifetime. I mean many, many diets, products, programs - you name it, I've tried it short of surgery. I found out there is no shortcut. The only thing that has worked for me is a free online community called Sparkpeople. I have learned how to track my food & exercise. There are so many different types of teams to join. As a member, I have my own webpage, joined different teams, blog, and interact with other Sparkpeople members. There are so many resource articles, exercise videos, health articles and so many tools to help learn to eat healthy. One of the...

If you run out of breath when your walking slow down just a little bit. Another important detail is that you should have a partner to talk to. I also found a way to get a little good stuff in your diet. ONCE every month you can have a small starbucks or meal from Mcdonalds or Burger King only once. He are some things that you might wan't to change about how you eat. Instead of fried chicken eat grilled chicken with a salad with no vinager or ceaser. Instead...

First off, people need to realize that "Fad" diets are normally not good for you. We know that, lets say, if you are diabetic your doctor will give you a nutritionist to go to that reviews foods that are good, bad and ugly for you. No zone diets, pills, etc. Why spend hundreds of dollars to Jenny Craig, etc for them to tell you to buy foods you can find for a heck of a lot cheaper, made exactly how you want made and how you want to make your portions for other meals. People need to realize that for the most part you can eat what you want in moderate amounts. Any doctor will verify this. Another...

One afternoon I was sitting on the couch watching T.V. when a Weight Watcher's commercial had come on. It said simply "eat less, move more" and that is what it all boils down to. It's a simple formula, if you let it be.
From that day forward I paid attention to that very thing. When I loaded my plate up for dinner I took just a little less than I normally...
read full review »Everyone always hears fad diets and diets that seem too good to be true. but really, all you really need to do is just pick the right things. If you like yogurt for breakfact, choose lite, and you saved already almost 50-100 calories depending on the brand. if you pick lite syrup on your pancakes instead, then you save about 100 calories too. there are so many different ways to save calories. If you save 500 calories a day(it sounds like a lot, but really, the little things add up) then that will be a pound gone for that week. and of course exercise always helps. take the dog for a walk, or just...

read full review »After trying to lose weight for the last thirty years, I have found that the best way is to get away from the kitchen table. I started by eating smaller portions, and not going back for seconds. That helped, so I added parking a little farther from the store, and having to take even a few more steps a day also helps. I can,t say that I do not eat the occasional piece of chocolate, or that I eat everything that is healthy for me, but I find myself eating more fruits and vegatables , than I used to. The last time I went to my doctor, she said that I lost 10 pounds. That was in a months...
