This year I decided to "finally" write down some goals. I wanted them to be positive AND attainable. Unrealistically, I made numerous resolutions to lose weight and put a number on it, ie; 15, 20, or 30 lbs.. This year is the year to change it up!
Instead, my goal is to eat healthier and incorporate some exercise. I decided not to deprive myself and just use portion control instead of cutting out the foods that I enjoy. I have been substituting some of the foods with other "healthier" choices. For example, I love tacos! Instead of making them with regular chop meat, I substituted with ground turkey. Not much of a taste difference. The turkey with the lettuce, tomatoe, reduced fat cheese and salsa, not a bad meal. Also, portion control is main thing for me too. Instead of loading up the plate to maximum portions, I have used the old addage of serving dinner on smaller plates. This seriously does help! I serve dinner on smaller plates, still filling up the plate, my husband thinks he is getting a larger portion that he really is! This is just my own opinion, but in the past two weeks, I have lost 7.5 lbs., by still eating what I love, and controlling portions.
In addition to eating better, I have put together a program of walking 3 miles a day, 3 times a week and doing yoga 2 days a week. Walking does not put a strain on my joints and the yoga works my core muscles and is extremely peaceful. Why not give it a try!!
