I quit smoking a little over three years ago. When I did I gained 35 pounds. I started at 130 and ended at 165. At first it didn't bother me. I figured when I got over cigarettes the weight would come back off. It always had in the past. It didn't.
One afternoon I was sitting on the couch watching T.V. when a Weight Watcher's commercial had come on. It said simply "eat less, move more" and that is what it all boils down to. It's a simple formula, if you let it be.
From that day forward I paid attention to that very thing. When I loaded my plate up for dinner I took just a little less than I normally would. When I found myself doing nothing I got up and did something.
This was not hard, as long as I kept it simple in my mind. Within 6 months I had gotten down to 125 for the first time in many years. No diets, no surgery, just eating less and moving more.
Of course eating healthy food helps too. I once heard if it didn't exist a hundred years ago you should not eat it. While I do not stick to that 100% I at least try to.
