Weeds is a very, very funny show about a suburban mom whose husband dies and she turns to selling drugs. The acting is brilliant, the writing is hysterical, and so far in season two, they have managed to keep it going. The series is a satire of suburban life with lots of laughs to make it go down easier.
If you take it to seriously or too literally, you will hate it.
There is nudity, violence and language, so if those things offend you stay away.
For my tastes, it is one of the best shows on tv today.
Imagine yourself as a straight-laced, 30-something suburban housewife whose loving husband suddenly dies. Left with what so many Americans these days are facing - massive debt - what are your choices? Having left behind the world of paid employment years ago to raise children and run a household, you don't have what most people think of as marketable skills or experience. What's a woman to do?
This is the premise of Showtime's series, Weeds. Mary Louise Parker plays Nancy Botwin, a recently widowed mom whose mourning for her dead husband is interrrupted by the harsh reality that there's no money...
read full review »I stumbled upon Weeds during Season 3 and fell in love with it. I had to backtrack and watch all the episodes before the 3rd Season. A mom of 2 boys who's husband has died falls on hard times and has to resort in selling weed for money. She is good at it too. She learns the in's and out's of the drug business and it's hilarious. She starts out dealing for a black woman and ends up eventually falling in love with a young black guy. She eventually starts selling on her own, her son joins the business and begins making his own strain of marijuana which is excellant and over the seasons you will laugh...
read full review »Weeds is probably one of the best shows I have ever seen. When it first came out I thought it was a really stupid idea, making a movie about a pot dealing soccer mom, how much could they actually do with that? And I never watched it until a few months ago, they just finished up season 5 not too long ago. I decided I would watch a few shows on Netflix watch instantly because I had nothing better to do and it looked better then anything else on the watch instantl section. As soon as i finished the first few shows, I was hooked! I mean I came home and watched these shows after work, I would stay...
read full review »Weeds is about a woman who lost her husband and has no job and is left to support her two children. Her brother in law lives with her also. She supports her family this by being a drug dealer. It is about her stuggles to keep this away from her children but sell to all the parent s in the neighborhood. It is funny, but a drama at the same time. You never know what is going to happen. It is funny to see someone who is clearly out of her element try to go into these neighborhood and talk to these hard criminals. You do not want to miss all 5 seasons. So much happens to this poor woman. But she...
read full review »Since we did not have Showtime last year, I bought WEEDS - SEASON 1 on DVD, because so many people told me "You just have to see that, or have you caught Weeds yet?" After receiving it, I, of course, showed my husband & we started watching it. What a funny funny, really relateable show.
We could not stop watching it & were very bummed that we were able to view the whole season in just 2 nights. Being just 1/2 hour episodes, they go very fast. If it was up to me I would make each episdoe 1 hour long.
Because We just had to continue with it, we now have Showtime to view...
read full review »I find that Weeds has caught my attention from its catchy song to the story line.
I like the characters and am very curious as to where the story will go. I am currently starting season 3 week 1 through Netflix because I don't have Showtime. I suggest others do the same.. " Little boxes , on the hillside , Little boxes made of Ticky-Tack..... "
