Every site you visit uses some sort of cookie, no not chocolate chip either. These cookies can be harmless ones that hold your information or they can be invasive cookies that keep track of everything you do. These fall into the category of spyware or adware and although many are harmless, some can damage your computer or slow it down.

Webroot Spy Sweeper with Anti Virus

This little bundle helps protect you in two ways, it will get rid of spyware and viruses in one program. My wife got this for me when my Norton's Virus software and my regular Spy sweeper subscriptions expired 2 weeks ago. Install is easy as you put the disc in and let it do its thing. It will first sweep your computer for any previous versions and remove them. Then it installs itself and the process depending on your set up will take from 5 to about 15 minutes. It also checks to see if the spyware and virus definitions are up to date.

Once installed it will sweep your computer throughly and this will take a while, on my 300gb hard drive it took about 30 minutes to do a full sweep. When it finds something it will list it for you and tell you the severity of the spyware or virus it finds. After it is done you just click a button and it will Quarantine the affected files, a file that has been Quarantined cannot harm your computer.

You can set it to auto update as well and mine is set to update once a day, that way I know I am protected from all the latest nasties out there. Currently mine has protection from 216,870 forms of Spyware/Adware and 332,865 viruses thats a lot of bad crap that can either slow down or crash your computer.

You can get these nasties in a variety of different ways from downloading files to visiting hacker sites and porn sites. Hackers like to use what they call a keylogger and that can do everything from send out emails from your computer to giving them your passwords and even taking over your computer. It doesn't cost a lot to keep your computer safe and it is the wise thing to do.

This bundle my wife bought lets me install the software on up to 3 computers and she got it at a going out of business sale so it was 25% off the normal price. Even at full price it is well worth the peace of mind it gives me surfing the Internet.

You paid good money to get the computer you wanted, why leave it open to attack from the idiots of the world that get their kicks from destroying your investment and making it no more good than a boat anchor in your house. No matter what company you prefer that makes spyware and virus software it is an essential part of your computer that you should not be without. By buying a bundled spyware and virus program you are insured that they will not fight each other while doing their job.
