Grilled food really is better over charcoal

My first Weber grill lasted 15 years. It even blew out of the back of the truck and held up (long story). These grills are excellent in terms of qualtiy.

We decided to upgrade to a larger model. The old was, I think, 18 inches. This one is 22 inches. You might not think that's a lot, but it really will hold quite a bit more food.

The best thing about the Weber models is that they are kettle shape. The air circulates really well for even cooking across the entire grill.

The set up is a bottom grate to hold the charcoal up off the bottom of the grill and then a top grate for cooking. Grates are good quality and last too.

The various air flow holes allow for great regulation. Don't leave them wide open once you get the fire going good, or you will burn your meat.

We've had our 22 incher for about a year now. I love it just as much as the old one we had for years.

I consider a Weber an investment. When I was younger I bought cheap grills. They lasted about a season. They were also hard to cook on. Though we pay more for Weber, we sure get our moneys worth.

If you ever decide to go back to charcoal, buy a chimney starter. They are fabulous. Cost under $15. Don't need any lighter fluid. Just fill up the canister. Cram newspaper in the bottom. Light that. Red hot coals in just a few minutes.

You are so right Cyndi. These charcoal grills are multi functional and so easy to use. My only problem is lighting it, haha. I have a propane grill (which I still don't light but that's because I like the hair on my arms). The propane grill is fine, hamburgers are so easy to do on it but I just can't master a steak like I could on a charcoal. Charcoal taste sooo much better too. I can try and trick my propane grill and put a tin of woodchips on it but still. Sigh. I guess you really can't be too picky when a BBQ is given to you though right? I do long for the days of charcoal again and can't wait to go camping to use those little campfire rings.

I agree that Weber grills are very well built. I've used a similar charcoal model at my in-laws and it certainly cooks very well. For my personal grilling I have a Weber gas grill that I use year round (yes even when it's 20 below!). It has lasted over 10 years and still going strong. Great pics Cyndi!

I've had the same grill for about 2 years now and completely agree with all your points. Charcoal grilling is the way to go for me and this is THE grill!
