Inappropriate?

I wrote a review on one of the many journaling sites I have tested out. I have been to Live Journal, Greatest Journal, Word Press, My Diary, Blurty, Xanga, Blogger, and a few others. Do any of you journal or blog on any of these types of sites? If so, which is your favorite and why?
I am trying to find one to call home with a nice blend of members who aren't 15 year old foul mouthed kids journaling about suicide and starving themselves (I have read SO many of those journals), has an easy to use interface, nice features, and can be remotely accessed like Blurty. I type my entries on my desktop and upload them to the site so I don't have to log in and all that.
Tell me the other sites you know of. I want to try them all out and find THE perfect one to call my journaling home. I do have a MySpace account but I don't want to blog there about day to day things and such. I rarely log on there these days. I just want a journaling site where I can log my day to day thoughts, plans, and rant now and then and maybe interact with people a little. (No time to do it on a grand scale.)
Any suggestions?

I have a Blogger account for what reason I don't know. I know about 4 people who read my blog:) I don't go to any of the sites you mentioned though and am not even familiar with the journaling concept that is shared with other people so I'll be watching this thread.

Oh yeah, I used Blogger for a business website I worked for. It's OK but seems more "business" than personal you know? These other sites are made to be a community as well as a journaling site. A lot depends on how much you care about how your journal looks, how many pics or videos you want to post, and whether you are looking for friends or just want to vent and be left alone.

Hi Patty,
Twitter is getting a lot of buzz, but I don't think it would work for you. It's kind of an odd place - or seems so to me. The reason I don't think you'd work out with that one is that the word limit is really short. Can't rem the exact number of words - but very low. You write longer. Twitter seems to be an "off the cuff" kind of community where you write one liners about what you're thinking or doing. I thought I'd mention it for others. Some of my students seem to really like it. I stick with blogger but more on my barbecue theme. I do have one for more personal posts, but I think I'm the only person in the world who reads it. Teehee.

I agree on blogger. I think blogger and typepad are more for people that are looking to have a corporate or formal blog. Less of a social network. ;)

the only one I'm really familiar with is blogspot since several of my friends use it to do updates on their children (or freebie finds:) . It seems to be a fairly friendly place to use, but its not really on the social network side of things.

Cyndi, I know Twitter. It is a place that people just answer the question, "What are you doing right now?" You get 160 characters to answer that. In theory, your friends can look you up and see what you're up to. It's kind of a funky idea but people apparently like it.
Blogspot, Blogger, and Typepad are definitely more formal. I know of several community oriented places but so many have kids writing crazy stuff. Today's youth has some really deep issues! So far, I like Word Press for the best overall features and Blurty for the remote feature. Greatest Journal is a great place to host pics though. They give you unlimited space! They did when I was there anyway.

Yeah. That Twitter thing is odd - to me. One of the kids sent me an invite. I'm thinking, "Now why do I need or want to know you just stopped at Taco Bell?" I guess I'm a member now, but I sure can't imagine sitting around typing down what I'm doing or not doing. Maybe kids today need hobbies or something.

This is a great place where you can hang out with people that have your interest, you can add pictures, videos, change backgrounds, have photo albums, everything is pretty simple. I am political and have lots of political friends, everybody there also loves it .Not much tech issues there either.

I blog on my own site, and I think it uses wordpress. It's my first blog ever but I think it's pretty cool, especially since I have control over everything about it since it is my own website (except I can't always figure it out!)

I have my own site with a blog embedded but that is for the site's readers and I wouldn't blog anything personal there. I have tons of space where I COULD atually add a blig and make it private if I wanted to but I don't for some reason. jobseeker, thanks for the link! I will check it out. I am pretty content at Blurty but wish they had an interface like this. I have to use HTML if I want to bold or whatever and that's a pain. But I keep my entries simple and it works pretty well.
I did find one place a while ago that is for people with things they want to change about themselves. I joined the compulsive shopper's blog group. And then I clicked on an ad and bought something. That didn't work. lol lol.

I use Blogger. It's really for my own use and for the few friends who read it. I don't write for interaction with a community (except here:)

I've tried Livejournal and Bravenet but I mostly like Bravenet over Livejournal because you have a little more control on decorating and adding stuff to your blog a little more than livejournal. :)

I use my networking social site for all my blogging needs LOL. I have a profile on Multiply.com & I like it because you can add just about anything on there..photos, videos, Important dates to remember, designer themes for your background etc. etc. I also like it because you can make some things private or somethings public..the choice is up to you.

All these suggestions have been very helpful to me. I'm new to the blogging thing. I have a blogger.com account, but still don't have the time to write anything. Iately i've found myself using the viewpoints blog more than anything else. granted i've only got 3-4 entries.
i've heard other positive thigns about bravenet and I will try that out.
it's nice not having to try to figure all these sites out myself. glad to know there's a network of others looking for the right fit in the blog world.

I haven't tried any of these yet. Patty, could you please tell me the difference between Greatest Journal and Wordpress? Which would be better for putting some photos with the blog?

I just got into journaling and blogging and the site I use for that is thoughts.com. It's a decent site with a diverse user population. You can add videos, create your own channel(like on Youtube),upload photos, and other features.
