Hi. My name is Patti and my husband, Dick and I are snowbirds between Florida in winter and Wisconsin in summer. At our Florida house we have three mature orange trees and we freeze the juice in half gallon plastic juice bottles to enjoy during the summers in Wisconsin. We would freeze one bottle while refrigerating and drinking the rest of the fresh juice.
From the time we first started juicing oranges until a about three years ago, we had about 5 juicers break down while making juice. So the appliance we use must be able to stand up to about 45 minutes of work and making about a gallon of juice. Finally, we bought a Waring Pro Juicer as it seemed to be strong enough. This machine worked fine for about 3 years. Then suddenly it seemed that the housing of the motor broke and the appliance was no longer working. It was easy to see that the housing was supported by 3 plastic posts which held the plastic case to the motor base. It was these posts that broke loose from the motor. My husband said it was poor engineering and probably a cost cutting move that put plastic posts were there was so much tension to bear.
Anyway to make a long story short we returned the unit to the store and they replaced it even though it was out of warranty. So far this replacement has held up. If it breaks down again we will have to consider a restaurant quality model to replace it, if we want to continue making juice.
