Although I already own an Oster 12-Speed blender that I am pleased with for cooking purposes, I wanted a blender that was specifically to be used for preparing mixed and frozen drinks. Summer will soon be here and so will the barbecues. I love to make frozen drinks for my guests and me so I wanted one that was easier to use and not as loud. I found the Waring Professional Bar 40 oz Blender for $69.95. A little steep but well worth it.
About this blender...
This two-speed blender's patented "Whirling Vortex Action" crushes ice with ease. It also liquefies purees, emulsifies and grinds. Other features include a 40 oz. glass jar, a toggle switch, 120-volts/390 watts and a metal base. It weighs in at 10 pounds and is 7 X15 inches in height.
What I think about it...
This blender has a sleek brushed-chrome finish that is very easy on the eyes and looks really sharp on my counter. It is very easy to use so when I have guests over, I can quickly operate it and because this model is quieter than most, it doesn't interrupt conversation. The simple control and minimalistic options take nothing away from the performance of the blender because it contains a 350-watt powerful motor. The heavy base prevents it from rocking and gives it a solid quality feel. The large 40 oz. capacity makes it able to handle drink servings to supply 4-5 people with ease. The cap includes a 2 oz. slot for ingredients. Although the manufacturer states that the blender is dishwasher safe, I prefer to handwash because the blade is fixed onto the jar and is not removable. For those of you who need a blender for more complex tasks, this blender is probably not for you because the glass carafe is heavy and tedious to handle. This appliance is more suited for drinks than it is for food preparation.
My Final Viewpoint...
The Waring Professional Bar 40 oz. Blender is a great blender to use as a bar companion. Its ease of use, powerful motor and sleek look makes it well worth the money spent. I recommend this blender for bar use and some light kitchen use. If you are looking for a blender strictly for cooking use, I would recommend a more heavy-duty blender. For my purposes, this blender is a winner and I am giving it a 4 star rating.
