Disney World is certainly one of my favorite places to visit - I love the atmosphere and I discover something new each time! A few specific notes - you definitely need to do your homework before you go, especially if you have to pay for everything. Try to travel during the off-season (and this isn't necessarily easy to guess, since Disney has a lot of foreign visitors as well, and they come in droves!) If you can, find someone you know that works there and have them get you into the parks - that can save you thousands! (Yes, I'm one of those lucky ones - I haven't paid to get into a park in years.) But if you don't know anyone, just be preapared knowing that it will be an expensive trip! Food is expensive, but if you go to the nicer restaurants, you will feel it's worth your money. And they don't limit what you can bring into the parks (as far as food and drink) so bring your own bottle to fill with drinking fountain water to save your $$.
As far as working there - most of the workers you see in the public aren't paid very much and sometimes the Mouse can seem like more of a Rat. Be nice to the Cast Members - they work very hard for little money - they could easily work at a local Wal-Mart and make more. The benefits are good though, so people stick with Disney. (A little note - I worked for Disney for a short time and enjoyed it - and I know a few people that have worked there for years and have had both good and bad experiences with them.)
Bottom line - Disney is unlike anywhere else and it's definitely worth the trip at least once in your life!
