Walmart male betta Review

I live in an apartment and wanted so badly to get a pet. My landlord doesnt allow cats and dogs so i figured the next best step was a fish tank. I wasnt sure what kind of cost was involved and thought maybe i should start out with a gold fish or soemthing else that wouldnt need a whole lot of supplies. I found something better than that. They had bettas or siamese fighting fish. The females are more nondescript and much smaller. Walmart sells the females but as I said, they aren't as pretty. The male betta fish are more ornamental. Walmart has two varieties. One is ust a normal male betta fish and the other is a fantail which is more fancy. The fantail costs a little more but worth it I'm sure. I bought a yellow male betta (It isn't easy to find yellow) And later I bought A white one, which is also hard to find. The thing is with the white ones, they generally aren't really white. Their color hasnt really developed but as they get older and start eating some of the color enhancing pellets and bloodworms they develop more. My white one is now more of a pink with some red spots on his tail.They tend to live for a few years and arent ahrd to take care of. Just remember of course not to put more than one male in a tank. They are very terriotorial and will fight each other and generaly kill one another if they are in the same tank. They adapt well to  smaller fish bowls but can be kept in larger tanks as well. They are like goldfish and dont have to live in a tank with a  filtration systme like other tropical fish. At any rate a betta fish is an affordable pet that will live for a few years and not make a mess. Walmart is probbly the best place to go for a betta fish. Other pet stores will have them but they are higher priced.
