John C. Reilly plays the lead role of Dewey Cox in this movie, which is basically a spoof of a  biography of a musician.  John C. Reilly almost always plays a goofy character and he's actually good at it.  He did a great job in playing this unlikely musician, who rises personal challenges and overcomes the childhood trauma of slicing his brother in half as a child. (Yes, you read that right)  Tim Meadows, from Saturday Night Live, also had a funny role as one of his bandmates, although his part was fairly small.

The storyline was pretty silly.  Kicked out of his at the age of fourteen, Dewey Cox quickly marries and has children and comes across a lucky break that boosts him to stardom.  He goes from squeeky clean country boy, to drug addled womanizer, and so forth.  As if we've never seen this storline before, right?  Basically, this movie makes fun of all other movies that have the same plot.

I expected more from the movie than it actually delivered.  There were a few funny lines mixed in all the sillyness, and a couple of memorable quotes.  But all in all, it wasn't all that great and I probably wont watch it again.

I wasn't so sure about this one. Looks like my hunch was right. Thanks.

I hate it when I wait so long to see a movie, put aside the time only to be disappointed.

Sorry to hear that it wasn't as good as hoped. I still have been putting off seeing this one.
