Walgreen Co. Mint Waxed Dental Floss —

Glide was originally made by Gore then bought out by Procter and Gamble.  Several years ago I purchased my drugstore's last supply of Glide by Gore at a great price.  Since I recently used it up, I trotted innocently into Walgreens for a quick repurchase.
Hey, not so fast Tuneful!  (I can't help support Procter and Gamble's vast advertising budget in this economy.)
The hunt began.  I didn't need an exact Glide generic.  Instead, I looked for a slender, waxed floss that might do the same job on my close-together pearlies.  What I found convinced me yet again that the hunt for generics pays off.
Walgreens Mint Waxed Dental Floss, a generic of Reach, says "Slides Easy" and "Shred Resistant" and means it.  It doesn't slip through my fingers as Glide sometimes did, but it does require that extra bit of care in edging it between your teeth.  I actually prefer this small bit of added friction.
I purchased my Mint Waxed Dental Floss on a special.  A non-flavored example was also available.  The first 100-yard package was $1.99.  The second pack cost ninety-nine cents.
Two hundred yards of excellent dental protection for three dollars really can't be beat.  (About 200 yards of Glide generally run about $16.  Walgreen exact generic for Glide is $4 less.)  This is when generics give me money to spend on intrinsically more interesting things -- like craft materials or clothes or make-up or chocolate.

Dentek brushes are helpful companions to floss.  Please see:

If you're gums are troublesome, add this nifty, non-alcoholic mouthwash to the mix:

Good for you! I also like those little brushes. They seem to get stuff that everything else misses. (Yuck.)

I'm doing a lot better since I found the dental picks.

Now, Gigi, flossing is important. Gum problems from not flossing have, yes, yet another effect on the immune system. Doing it while watching TV sounds right to me! Thanks for your comment.

I always get my floss free my dentist but I'm a very bad girl. I don't floss on a reg. basis like I should. I do like those floss picks and I tend to floss more with those while watching TV. Hey, every little bit helps.

I'm glad this is working out for you and this is a good review and a good bargain too. I have never been able to get used to waxed floss but this sounds like a good deal.

Hope it works for you. I always get into trouble when I'm in a hurry whether it's Glide or Walgreen's or those little brushes I reviewed a while back. Thanks for your comment!

I'll have to look for this. I can never floss right because it breaks and gets caught in my teeth. Now I've lost a few teeth because I couldn't take care of them properly :(
