Decent School, But Do Your Research First...
I have recently decided to pursue an MBA. I was comparing different online schools and found that the accrediation between ACBSP and ACCSB is very important and can greatly impact your future career ambitions. Make sure that you REALLY know what you want to do before you begin the program with any institution that offers an MBA program and is not ACCSB accredited. To explain, the ACCSB is the gold standard of business schools; where ACBSP is the bronze. The only time where the two may not be so detrimental is if you are already in your chosen field and wish to attain advancement within the company you are with, or have no interest in obtaining an upper-level management position (e.g. Executive management)with a Fortune 100 company. Although it may be possible that you could, your chances are much less likely, because most potential employers are searching for top notch candidates who come from higher respected programs, meaning that they are ACCSB accredited. I am not trying to discourage you from choosing Walden. My intentions are just to fully inform you about how highly regarded a program's accreditation is by potential employers, and make you consider important how it can potentionally limit opportunities. On a final note, if you are seriously considering applying for an institution's MBA program, do yourself a favor and take a few minutes out of your day and check out these links so you are fully informed: Sources: http://www.aacsb.edu http://www.acbsp.org **Make sure you also google each accrediation and see for yourself which accrediation has the highest rating, and how it will impact your future ambitions** Good luck! : D
