I have been using WD40 longer than I can even remember and the things I use it for you won't believe. I have a can in my garage, in my truck and in my tackle box. Tackle box you ask, well let me tell you one of the more unique uses for this great product.

I usually just spray some on a worm and let it fly, catfish love it. Well let's just say that all fish have a great sense of smell and sense catfish are scavengers the smell wakes them up quick. I have caught many a large catfish using WD40, my largest to date is a 45l. blue catfish. You only need to spray a little on there and it will last about 30 minutes. Although it may not be environmentally correct to use an oil based product in water it does in fact work very well.

Now let's look at some more typical uses for WD40:

WD40 works great at repelling water so if you have any problems with moisture on your vehicle this is the product for you. It will keep moisture from entering electrical devices under the hood as well. I have used it inside the distributor cap on my truck as I don't drive around puddles I go through them. You can also use it on your catch assembly on your hood to keep it working smoothly. Every oil change I also lube the entire truck so I also use WD40 to spray on all the grease fittings, as well as the brake bleeder screws. Why you ask, well let me tell you. Although you may never need to replace a grease fitting, or bleed your brakes. If they have been maintained you can save yourself not only a lot of hassle breaking them free after they have been neglected. You will also save money because you didn't strip one out or even break it trying to remove it.

Around the house you can spray a little on door hinges to keep them from squeeking, on drawer slides to keep them working smooth. You can also make that sliding glass door work just a little smoother. I don't mean on the bottom where it slides either. What you do is look for a little (about 3/8 of an inch round) button on the bottom of your door. Use a small screwdriver to pry it off, then spray WD40 in the hole. This is where the roller wheel hides that makes the door slide open and closed. Do this about every 3 months and that door will work like a charm for many years to come.

Got gum stuck on your shoes, spray a little WD40 on it and soften it up and it will come right off. Just about anything that has a hinge, spring or slide bolt can use WD40 to keep it working smooth. Have padlocks on your shed or gate outside? WD40 sprayed in the keyhole will keep it from rusting. After you use your garden tools, spray a little WD40 on a rag and wipe them down. It will keep your tools looking much better. Use it on the track of your garage door where it has roller wheels to move up and down, it will help reduce the wear on them. Outdoor water spigots can use a light spray to keep them turning smooth.

In closing I will honestly say that just like duct tape WD40 has 1001 uses around the house. Just remember not to spray it on painted surfaces as it will ruin the paint. Although your pets make squeak, it's not for pets either! It's not expensive but in the long run it can save you money. Try some today and see what new uses you can come up with.

Update:
