Exciting, then Dissapointing.

My daughter got this toy for her 4th birthday. She was so excited to play with it. But when we got it out and she started using it, she lost interest quick. It's fun for her to zoom around with the "controller" but it's touchy and is hard to land on what you want. She didn't really understand anything the globe said, and she had no idea what it was doing. The toy is a great idea, but maybe for older kids. I think it is just to complicated and advanced for 4 year olds.

VTech Fly and Learn Globe has lasted

4

VTech Fly and Learn Globe has lasted 4 years in my house and still going strong (battery changings and all).  My son received this as a gift when he was 4 and still likes to have it around, even though he doesn't actually play with it anymore.  It was his first globe.  It gave him his first concept of the 3D world.  (When he was older I bought him his first atlas and that provided him with a broader and more detailed concept - but this VTech Fly and Learn Globe was a good starting point.)  It is very cute and he has it proudly displayed in his room.  His younger sister (she is only 2 now) is very curious about it and will probably borrow it in the near future.   I mention that because it appears to appeal to both boys and girls.  As a parent, I believe that the toy manufacturer should probably add a few more cities to the airplane's flight plan to make it more educational.   And as a parent, I am also glad it has an off button (which some toys unfortunately do not have!).

Great for several ages

4

I bought this globe for my preschool children and it has been a hit for several years now.  Even other children who come over to play are attracted to the cool VTech Fly and Learn Globe.  And now my toddler, while he can't fully operate it, loves to just press the buttons and hear all the fun sounds and songs.   It is very educational.  It teaches children about continents, oceans, and some of the animals that are found on those places.  It could be more educational, but then it may not be as fun and get played with as much.  It is easy to use and has several activities on the different buttons to keep children engaged. it is a good size, and can be easily handled by children.  The handle is a little tricky to manuever, but that has never interfered with the children really enjoying this toy.  Any toy that lasts this long and my house and holds children's interest for several years is a winner in my book.

Great Globe for Preschoolers!

VTech Fly and Learn Globe has just enough cities for young little minds.  My boys love moving the joystick and hearing the plane putter around the globe to find continents and cities.  It is a great introduction tool to the world allowing kids to see the Earth and explore.  My boys also love to learn aobut the facts that it give on each city and continent.  It is small enough for the kids to tote around from room to room and play as they go.  This globe is a great gift for kids 5 and under.  My son received it as a Christmas gift when he was two, he was able to move the joystick and loved the noises.  I did not find it too loud and enjoyed listening to all of the information it gave.  My older boys enjoyed playing with it too although my 8 year old at the time knew all of the information so it was very easy for him to find the areas in the question section.  This is a great educational globe for a preschooler, a good investment.

VTech Fly and Learn Globe- fabulous!

4

After one day of play, all of a sudden my son was spouting off names of places I know I have never mentioned!  I think this is fun, fun way to introduce little ones to some basic concepts of geography.  I'm pretty sure they won't notice that they are learning!  Even my two-year old likes to play with this toy, although not for as long at a time as his big brother. It seems sturdy enough and easy to keep clean.  I noticed it makes an "irritated, clicking" sound if my littlest tries to force the globe one direction when it wants to go the other direction in response to his pushing the button. The volume is incredibly loud!  What on earth???  We have a few other electronic toys that are crazy-annoying loud, so what we do is cover the speakers with clear packing tape.  It is kind of a waste that they make them like that.  Overall, I don't think providing this toy is going to ensure your child passes world history or anything like that, but if you are looking for a toy, you might as well be planting some seeds that surely will help your child when they do start coming across this stuff in a school setting;)

VTech Fly and Learn Globe Teaches the Big World to Little Ones

5

The V Tech Fly and Learn Globe  is another great educational toy that engages your child in roleplaying through entertainment fun. The pilot guides your child to meet new people in new places and exposes them to new langauages.  Simple phrases in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Hindi and Arabic.  Children are also encouraged to participate in fact finding missions, meet new friends and contains a child's first atlas. Included with this globe is a detector and magnifying glass that guides kids on search missions.  There are five discovery modes for them to map there educational journey. The airplane can be moved in all directions while the joystick controls where your child wants the plane to fly. The unit runs on four AAA batteries and despite having an automatic turn off the unit does feature a standard on and off switch that makes it easy for children to operate. A great first time globe for your little traveler.

My sone loves this thing!

My son is almost a year old and he loves this toy! He loves to spin it and press the different buttons. It will be good for a while longer too, since it will be educational later on when he can understand what it is talking about!

Educational, but not soaring to great heights with my kids

3

I bought this globe for my kids back in December. Given that my son is obsessed with the U.S. Map, I thought I would expand his horizons and venture into the GLOBE. Alas, he has no interest. The concept is great-- introduce your kids to world geography through a fun pilot that you can guide. However, the implementation of it isnt all that great. The pilot is a little sensitive, and the countries that are highlighted are somewhat interesting, but require some educating beforehand. (Great Pyramids, Taj Mahal) The colors are loud and bold and the "music" and propeler sound make it a fun toy. It may have potential to be a great product but definitely not with toddlers under 3.
